Samsung Galaxy S2 T-Mobile Version Gets Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update

An Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update has become available for the Samsung Galaxy S2 on T-Mobile.

The Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S2 follows a rapid release of updates for other variants of the device, all occurring in the past month or so. These include the GT-I9100P, the Three UK versions, the Indian version and Vodafone.

As expected, the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update comes with a number of new features. These include Project Butter, which will allow for smoother performance overall. The update will also come with TouchWiz Nature UX and a new interface that is the same one found on the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2. Additional features include two home screen modes, a new lockscreen with customization options, updated camera features, Samsung's Cloud services, new widgets, a new notification bar, Direct Call, Smart Stay, Pop-up Play and Google Now.

The Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update is available over the air and via Samsung's Kies tool.

The T-Mobile Galaxy S2 model number is SGH-T989. It comes with a 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 CPU, 1 GB of RAM and a 4.52-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen with 800 x 480 pixel resolution. The device first came with Android 2.3 Gingerbread and received Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, its first big software update, in June 2012.

The Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update is expected to come out in phases, so don't be surprised if you have to wait a little while to update your Galaxy S2.
