BlackBerry To Launch First Budget Friendly Phone In Years
BlackBerry recently officially confirmed plans to reveal its latest smartphone at the MWC (Mobile World Congress) on February 25. This might not be the only phone on display from the brand that was once known for smartphones however as new reports have emerged which claims that the company is also set to show off a new budget-friendly option as well.
This may be the first project from Blackberry's joint BB Merah Putih venture after the company disclosed that it will stop building its own hardware and instead move towards a licensing model. That's a software licensing strategy that brings a number of Indonesian companies together to work closely on new software and services, so this looks like a phone that will be exclusively developed.
BlackBerry Codenamed BBC100-1 Expected Specs And Features
Popular tipster and also leaker Roland Quandt spilled the news about the mysterious device on one of his social media account. The tipster said the Blackberry smartphone codenamed the BBC100-1, sports a 5.5-inch HD display and is said to powered by a Snapdragon 425 SoC. The smartphone has a whopping 4GB of RAM, while the internal memory is reported to be 32GB. The smartphone will sport an 8MP front shooter and a 13MP rear unit, alongside with a 3,000Mah battery. The BlackBerry Mercury is set to have a premium look in terms of design. Other rumors claim that it will include a touch-sensitive keypad and a glossy finish to give a glass-like feel. In addition, the phone is said to have a fingerprint scanner embedded into the space bar. The smartphone's aimed audience will apparently be businesses and professional users. The smartphone will reportedly come with some conventional BlackBerry applications like Hub+
