2017 Toyota 86 Review: Our Kind Of Performance Car

The Toyota 86 has made quite a reputation for itself as one of the most affordable sports car in the industry. Looking at the 2017 Toyota 86, it is not hard to see why its one of the best cars you can get your hands on and when you get behind its wheel, you will understand even better. Here is why the 2017 Toyota 86 is our kind of performance car.

2017 Toyota 86: It Satisfies Your Hunger For Power

Whether we like to admit it or not, everyone has a hidden hunger for power. Of course, this hunger comes in different form. For us that love cars, our hunger is sated by powerful engines and the 2017 Toyota 86 has enough to satisfy your hunger.

According to CNET, the 2017 Toyota 86 is equipped with a 2.0-liter four cylinder engine that is capable of 205 horsepower and 156 pound-feet of torque. This is matted with a six-speed manual transmission with an option for a six-speed automatic gearbox. Going for the automatic however reduces the horsepower and torque by five.

2017 Toyota 86: Provides Great Driving Experience

The 2017 Toyota 86 is basically a machine that is built to give drivers the ultimate experience on the road. Despite the automaker giving the 2017 Toyota 86 a stiffer suspension, the 86 still has an incredible handling. In addition, its stability control also performs exceptionally well.

According to report, even if you happen to oversteer on a corner, there would be nothing to worry about as the stability control will take care of things for you. You can even do it intentionally and the safety feature will take the necessary actions. Although, it is not advisable for you to do something dangerous unless you really know what you are doing and you are not putting anyone else in harm's way.

2017 Toyota 86: A Twisty-Road Machine

The 2017 Toyota 86 is basically a show off when it comes to comfort, particularly during cornering. Simply put, this is the kind of ride you would want to take to the mountain passes or any twisty roads you can find and push it to its limits. If you have ever been a fan of "Initial D" and know about the legendary AE86 Trueno, then you would probably want to go drifting with the 2017 Toyota 86.

2017 Toyota 86: The Drawbacks

The 2017 Toyota 86 may be among those on top of the list in terms of performance but it definitely is not up there when it comes to fuel economy. It only has a rating of 21 and 29 miles per gallon range in the city and on the highway and it also only has a 13 gallon tank. As far as infotainment is concerned, I am really no fan of it at all but if you are looking for Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, you will find none.

And given the fact that the 2017 Toyota 86 is a sports car, you should not expect a good cargo space. With all the great things about the 2017 Toyota 86 at the end of the day, it would still be my kind of performance car and I know a whole bunch of people that would agree.
