Google Play Movies And TV App Switches To A Dark Theme

The Google Play Movies and TV app have a new theme by default, which is completely dark instead of a white and red background. The change appears to be permanent because the app provides no option to turn it back to the previous theme.

Dark User Interface Theme

Google's switch to a dark User Interface (UI) is an updated unique design to suit each users' taste. The application is all about movies and TV shows. The color black is pretty best as the background for movie viewing and watching television, which Google somewhat points that the color black provides the app a cinema-like scene.

According to 9To5 Google, the dark theme even applies to the status bar and the red action bar of the app. The only red on the interface are the accents, which denote the tab and the buttons, as well as the promo cards.

The latest dark UI is quite similar to Netflix and other online streaming apps. It has a new version 3.22, which is a visual standpoint update. It also puts the "Watch Now" and "My Library" to a darker theme.

Google Play Movies And TV Layout

The application got little changes on the palette, which the "Watch Now" has lost the overflow menu with an "Add to Wishlist." The cards' size on the app also got some shrinking, which now perfectly fit on the screen. The size adjustment is much smaller, which allows three movie options in a row instead of two in the previous version, as per Android Police.

Google Play Movies And TV App

The Google Play Movies And TV app allows users to watch movies and stream TV shows. It can either be purchased or rented. The movies or TV shows can automatically play on Android devices, or any HDTV using Chromecast. Movies and shows can also be downloaded, which offers users to watch it anywhere even without an internet connection.
