Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Releases Today, Available Via XBL Marketplace

Ubisoft's month-long campaign of teasers has finally come to an end with its 80s themed FPS Far Cry 3:Blood Dragon releasing today (May 1). Ubisoft has also released the launch trailer for the game, which shows off some impressive moments from the title.

Earlier in Dec. 2012, Far Cry 3 garnered rave reviews and enthralled gamers all over the world. Buoyed by the success, Ubisoft has now released the standalone title Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.

The game stars Hollywood actor Michael Biehn as Sergeant Rex Power Colt, a cyborg soldier who has been sent to a remote island to save the world from the whims of a madman. The premise of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is steeped in the 80s and it borrows heavily from action movies, cartoons and culture of the time. Like in the original Far Cry 3, gamers will be able to hunt animals, deploy a plethora of weapons and destroy enemy encampments.

The difference in this version is that the animals are cyborgs, the weapons are lasers and the enemy encampments have massive green forcefields surrounding them. Also, you have the laser-shooting unstoppable Blood Dragons who are the new predators of the game. They can be your greatest threat as well as best weapon against the cyborgs.

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is available only as a digital download for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 platforms. It is available for download in Europe now and will be available in the U.S. from May 2.

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is available on the Xbox Live Marketplace for 1200 MS Points. To see the availability in your region for XBL check here.
