'The Originals' Season 4, Episode 1: Official Synopsis Revealed; Hayley Makes Ruthless Decision

"The Originals" season 4, episode 1 finally revealed its official title and synopsis. The premiere episode "Gather Up the Killers" will take off five years after the events of season 3. Meanwhile, some reports revealed that "The Vampire Diaries" stars are making an appearance in the upcoming series.

According to Spoiler TV, "The Originals" season 4, episode 1 will start on the fifth anniversary of the Mikealsons downfall and Klaus' (Joseph Morgan) defeat. Marcel is the now the king of New Orleans however, he finds out that someone is threatening his rule. He would seek counsel from an unlikely source. This is most probably Klaus himself, in the teaser, there is a scene of Marcel visiting Klaus in prison. There are also new promotional photos showing Marcel taunting him.

The official synopsis also revealed that Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) will be forced to make a ruthless decision. She is finally close to achieving the cure for Elijah and the sleeping Mikaelsons, however, he would need to do a final task which would force her to make a sacrifice. Well, everything has a price and the price for reviving the Mikaelsons will definitely be big.

On the other hand, fans would be able to see some "The Vampire Diaries" characters in upcoming "The Originals" episodes. A report revealed that Alaric will make a trip to New Orleans to deliver an important artifact to Elijah (Daniel Gillies). Spoilers hint he would appear in episode 8.

With "The Vampire Diaries" ending this March, Julie Plec revealed in a previous interview that "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 finale will be aligned with "The Originals" so it is possible that "The Vampire Diaries" characters would pop out in New Orleans from time to time.

"The Originals" season 4, episode 1 "Gather Up the Killers" will air on The CW on Friday, March 17 at 8 p.m. ET.
