Rob Lowe And Bill Paxton Are The Closest Friends In The Industry; He Recalls

The unexpected death of his friend Bill Paxton devastates actor Rob Lowe, labeling him a "uniquely American national treasure". Bill, is best known for his movie roles in Twister, Apollo 13, Aliens, and Titanic, died on Saturday (25Feb17) after suffering complications from a surgery.

The 61-year-old's family, together with his children James and Lydia with his second wife Louise Newbury, issued a statement confirming the loss on Sunday (26Feb17), hours night before the Oscars.

Rob And Bill Are Best Friends

Rob, who make friends with Bill after working together in 1994's nonfiction western Frank and Jesse, was amongst the first to take to comments on Twitter to pay honor to his pal. "Confounded by the sudden loss of my close friend and one of the best actors in the industry, Bill Paxton," he wrote. "Renaissance man, raconteur and uniquely American national treasure. His movies speak for itself. His friendship was a blessing from above..."

Friends Paying Tribute To Him

Bill's True Lies castmate Jamie Lee Curtis also voiced her shock at the news: "Nooooo. Bill Paxton is gone," as she mourned. "Such a funny, talented, loving human.

One more True Lies co-star, Mr. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who have also worked with Bill on his early movies The Terminator and Commando, added, "Bill Paxton is a versatile actor, but he was best at being Bill - a great humble being with a huge heart. My prayers are with his family."

And Tom Hanks, who's characteristics is in the tragic actor's final film, forthcoming movie release The Circle, wrote, "Bill Paxton was, simply, a wonderful man. A wonderful man..."

Bill's Tweeter Received Several Comments

In the meantime, Elijah Wood shared his grief by tweeting, "What a lovely, warm and kind man. So, sad to hear about his passing," and Frozen star Josh Gad referred to Bill's Aliens role also posted, "The loss of #BillPaxton is beyond crushing. Once again, an icon, far too young, gone far too soon. Goodbye Private Hudson."

"Only 61!" exclaims Marlee Matlin. "Sad to know while watching #Oscars that day, a talented actor Bill Paxton has passed. My thoughts & prayers to his family."

"Condolences to the late family of Bill Paxton. I just heard the news," noted William Shatner, and filmmaker Edgar Wright tweeted: "Bill Paxton's passing so saddens me. Had the pleasure of meeting him a few times in recent years and he was truly the loveliest guy."
