The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus just received a slight makeover as a limited edition has just been released by Apple. The aesthetic refresh gives the units a red aluminum finish that is unique and classically done.
According to Apple's official site, the limited edition iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus was released in celebration of the 10-year partnership between the Cupertino tech giant and (RED). As such, every purchase will provide users a way to contribute to the Global Fund, which will help in making a step closer to an AIDS-free world.
As noted by Apple CEO Tim Cook, Apple's (RED) products have significantly helped in the effort to stop the spread of AIDS. The projects began with a special edition of the iPod Nano, which was followed by a limited lineup of Beats products, as well as accessories for the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. However, he also confirmed that the red iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus is the biggest project to date.
(RED)'s CEO Deborah Dugan confirmed that Apple's efforts have been significant to the company. "Apple is the world's largest corporate donor to the Global Fund," she said. "[The company has] contributed more than US$130 million as part of its partnership." Dugan then went on to praise how the tech giant has provided a great and marketable opportunity for customers to help in the fight against AIDS.
Changes in the color of its products have become a standard way for Apple to upgrade their devices. As The Verge has noted, the iPhone 7 generation also debuted the return of the jet black finish. With the iPhone 6S series, the tech giant also introduced the rose gold option.
The (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 will be available for purchase in Apple stores. They will become available on March 24. The limited edition will be available for 128GB and 256GB models and will sell for about US$749.
