Time Travel Track: 1969 Charger 500 Enjoys The Spotlight In 2017 Muscle Car Review

An unrestored original 1969 Dodge Charger 500 muscle car is given the sweet spot on the cover of the of the upcoming May 2017 issue of Muscle Car Review. The auto-packed journal is full of original, untouched, and historically significant muscle cars for the month, but no other can top the muscle of the rare powerful beast that is the Dodge Charger. Being the first built out of 500 cars, some experts even say the number is at 392, this classic car's interior is simple black vinyl and cloth.

Any muscle car enthusiast knows that the cover car deserves its spot as only a few hundred were made to homologate the car’s aerodynamic modifications for NASCAR. Even more interesting is the rarity of his car as it is one of 15 with a 426 Hemi and four-speed manual transmission, Hurst shifter. To top it off, it is recorded as the very first of its kind ever built, ordered by Dodge’s News Bureau for promotional purposes and magazine tests.

It's totally remarkable that this 1969 Dodge Charger 50 survives in pristine unmolested condition, making its value even higher. Originally used by Dodge at major auto shows and for promotions, its owner gushes that it’s a real deal. The owner had known about this special muscle car for a very long time, the Hot Rod reported.

It was early in 1969, and the owner was only 15 at that time, when he saw an article in Hot Rod magazine about the Dodge Charger 500. He remembers that the article went on to rave about the car and its powerful Hemi engine. Reading the story really made an everlasting impression on him, leading him to the wonderful and rare opportunity to finally purchase it three decades later.

Accoding to the Times Colonist, the 1969 Dodge Charger 500 is now owned by The Manny Collection in Ontario, Canada. It is an unrestored original with a transmission A833 4-speed manual. It's rear end is a Dana 60 with 3.54 gears and Super Track Pack, with 15×6 Stamped steel wheels.
