‘Fate Of The Furious' Charlize Theron And Elsa Pataky Comment On Possible Comeback In Future Sequels
The latest installment in the “The Fast and The Furious” franchise has been taking over the cinemas by a storm. “The Fate of the Furious” reportedly have broken records at the box office. Stars Charlize Theron and Elsa Pataky have shared how they felt about this and revealed if they will be coming back for future sequels.
Charlize Theron Humbled By Box Office Record
“The Fate of the Furious” is Universal Picture’s most ambitious worldwide release and it garnered more than $544 million in the box office. Because of the new record, it has become the highest grossing movie directed by an African-American filmmaker and became the third movie in history to gain $500 million in the box office during its opening weekend. Charlize Theron, who plays the role of the villainous Cipher, said that playing a small part in a successful movie has humbled her.
In “The Fate of the Furious”, Cipher got away just before the story ended and fans are curious if they will be seeing her again in future installments. Theron coyly said that she does not know if she will return in the ninth movie, probably holding back any spoilers for the upcoming sequels. The ninth untitled “The Fast and the Furious” movie has been scheduled to release in April 2019.
Is Elena Neves Really Dead?
Sadly, the lovely badass cop, Elena met her untimely demise in “The Fate of the Furious” after Cipher ordered her execution in front of Dom. Elsa Pataky, who plays the role of Elena, says Elena’s end was dramatic and sad but it was also a beautiful way of ending Dom and Elena's relationship since the former is now with Letty. She shared that she and Vin Diesel were able to prepare for the emotional scenes because they were parents themselves and they would know that feeling of wanting to save a loved one.
“The Fast and the Furious” franchise is known for playing around with characters’ deaths just like Letty, who eventually returned when the story revealed that she was actually alive. Elena’s death took fans by surprise and it's heartbreaking to see her out of the franchise but fans are still curious if there’s a possibility that Elena might show up from the dead anytime. Pataky pointed out that since Elena’s death scene was not shown in the movie, there’s always hope that a presumably dead character will come back.
