OnePlus 5 Latest Rumor Says Dual Camera Will Come With Monochrome Sensor

OnePlus fans and the tech industry, in general, are anxious to see what the OnePlus 5 will be like. With more and more alleged details surfacing every day, it seems like the OnePlus 5 will be one of the best, if not THE best, smartphones to come out in recent years.

The latest on the highly anticipated OnePlus 5 again revolves around its dual cameras. According to Tech Radar, a new set of leaked photos courtesy of "TrueTech" shows the dual camera set-up once more. One of the photos is in black and white but that does not deter one from ogling over the possible design of the OnePlus 5 particularly its dual rear camera.

One rumor regarding the dual camera system is that one of the lenses will exclusively be a monochrome sensor. This can be seen in the leaked photos as one of the lenses is supposedly in monochrome, according to Trusted Reviews.

The monochrome sensor will focus on the brightness and contrast of the image rather than the color. This way, the resulting photos look much better as the camera performs better in low light. In other words, the monochrome sensor will allow OnePlus 5 owners to take photos which show as many details as possible. The monochrome sensor is not a new innovation. The Huawei P9 and the P10 already utilize this technology.

This new rumor somewhat coincides with the image posted by OnePlus on Twitter which shows a bridge shot using two different cameras. The shot on the right shows a vastly improved low-light performance as compared to the one on the left which was supposedly taken using the OnePlus 3T.

The OnePlus 5 is expected to be unveiled within the month. Some rumors have already indicated that June 15 will be the exact date of the OnePlus 5 launch.
