Here are the best sci-fi TV shows worth watching in 2022. These sci-fi TV shows might give off a different vibe, feel, and story for each show, but they are all tied together by having amazing sci-fi effects.

'Stranger Things'

"Stranger Things" is an original series from Netflix that got all of us hooked with just a few episodes. The list of the best sci-fi TV shows to watch would not be complete without this series.

"Stranger Things" is a series that exists in the world of Indiana, Hawkins. The shows have an '80s nostalgia vibe and feel to them.

We follow El, a near-mute girl who was the subject of scientific experiments. She develops telekinetic powers, which she uses to fend off monsters who invade from a frightening alternative dimension.

"Stranger Things" uses science fiction as a jumping-off point to tell some truly exciting stories.

This Netflix series follows the citizens of Hawkins, Indiana, as they battle against supernatural phenomena. The show is now preparing to release its fourth season.

"Stranger Things" season 3 concluded with the show's central characters experiencing a number of changes, including the apparent death of police chief Jim Hopper (David Harbour) and the Byers family's relocation away from the town.

Just recently, Netflix released the trailer for the show's fourth season.

'Black Mirror'

"Black Mirror" is another show that tops the list of the best sci-fi TV shows to watch. It's a show created by Charlie Brooker and is a Netflix original.

When the horror, science-fiction, and thriller series "Black Mirror" premiered in 2011, it instantly gained the attention of fans of the horror, science-fiction, and thriller genres.

Brooker introduced the brutality of the internet as a major theme of the series almost immediately in the first episode. This is how each episode pushes the limits of what technology can do when it comes to destroying parts of human civilization.

"Black Mirror"'s mini-movies are jam-packed with an exploration of futuristic technological ideas told through the lens of painfully human characters. According to CNET, a good example of this is the film San Junipero, which follows two women in the 1980s as they fall in love in a way that they couldn't do in their "real" lives outside of the beach town.

'Lost in Space'

"Lost in Space" is another series that definitely makes the list of the best sci-fi TV shows to watch. The show is a sci-fi reimagining of the groundbreaking science-fiction series of the same name that aired on black-and-white television screens across America in 1965. The show is set in the future.

Two years after humanity has been pushed to the brink of extinction, the world is transported to the year 2046 in this reboot.

The Robinson family, known for their artistic abilities, embarks on a mission to colonize a new planet. Beyond the inevitable family drama, they must contend with strange new environments and an odd alien robot who befriends Will, who is only a child. Lost in Space has plenty of fuel to get off the ground thanks to mystery, heart, and a memorable villain in Parker Posey's Dr. Smith.

As Polygon reported, Netflix's data shows that the rebooted Lost in Space series was watched by 6.3 million subscribers in its first 72 hours. This makes it one of the most popular Netflix shows of 2018.

Since then, streaming services have seen a huge rise in the production of high-budget space science fiction TV shows.

'Legends of Tomorrow'

"Legends of Tomorrow" is the fourth series set in the Arrowverse, following "Arrow," "The Flash," and "Supergirl." It is based on the characters from the DC comic book series of the same name.

"Legends of Tomorrow" maintains the same basic premise as before: a group of C-list superheroes who find themselves in time-travel (mis)adventures.

However, the show isn't just another superhero show. It's also a mix of comedy, with time travel, aliens, sorcerers, a trip to Hell, and rules that are only meant to be broken once in a while.

According to Den of Geek, the series has now surpassed seven seasons, and Legends has built up dense mythology all its own. With that, if ever it gets harder to catch up, viewers can just jump into most of the later seasons and pick them up.

Without a doubt, DC's Legends of Tomorrow is one of the best sci-fi TV shows to watch and catch up on in 2022.

'The Umbrella Academy'

"The Umbrella Academy" is a Netflix series original that has finished two seasons and will now release season 3 on June 22, 2022.

"The Umbrella Academy" is based on the comic book series published by Dark Horse, which was written and illustrated by Gerard Way. What happens is that he used to be the lead singer for the rock band My Chemical Romance. Gabriel Bá has created the illustrations for this piece.

The story revolves around a group of seven children with special abilities who are adopted and raised by the eccentric billionaire Sir Reginald Hargreeves, who is known for his eccentricities.

While still children, the man trained them to be superheroes, and during their adolescence, they joined forces to fight crime as a group. Because of Hargreeves' death, the entire family has been reunited after twelve years of being apart from one another.

As we follow the siblings through their post-wunderkind, superhero days, the estranged team is forced to reunite in order to prevent a catastrophic event from occurring.

"The Umbrella Academy" is a pulpy thrill ride bolstered by dry humor and a cast of memorable characters, and it features strange powers, a significant amount of time travel, and some impressive world-building to boot. This Netflix series is definitely a must-watch. It is definitely on the list of the best sci-fi TV shows to watch.
