Fans will miss one fighter from the Street Fighter franchise as one character is set to depart from the game series.
During a recent Youtube Q&A, Street Fighter V composer Daniel Lindholm revealed that Fei Long might not appear in the game franchise in the future.
Why Is Fei Long Departing From 'Street Fighter'?
According to Comicbook, Lindholm was asked about rewriting the themes for different fighters from the series.
He expressed his desire to do just that for Fei Long.
Why though?
Well, Fei Long's resemblance is a homage to Bruce Lee. It appears that the Lee family no longer wants depictions of the actor that would be perceived as "comedic," as per Comicbook.
"I do have other sources, not only Capcom, but friends of mine in the U.S. who are very close friends with the Lee family. And they basically said any kind of resemblance to Mr. Bruce Lee is now omitted for comedic effect, or comic stuff. It needs to be honorable. So, that's why we won't see Fei Long again. Ever," said Lindholm.
As of writing, Capcom has not confirmed this information yet. VG247 reached out to Capcom in an attempt to verify Lindholm's remarks, but a spokesperson from the publisher responded that it does "not comment on rumor and/or speculation."
In Street Fighter V, Fei Long was not a playable character. In case Lindholm's claims are accurate, it looks like he won't be appearing in Street Fighter 6 too.
Fei Long debuted in 1993's Super Street Fighter II, and has since then made a number of appearances in Street Fighter games and adaptations.
The character even appeared in "Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie," where he was voiced in the English dub by Bryan Cranston ("Breaking Bad").
Fei Long's has a long history with the series, it would be a disappointment among fans to see him disappear.

The character of Fei Long, a martial artist and action film star from Hong Kong, is Capcom's tribute to legendary martial artist and action film star Bruce Lee, according to NintendoLife.
Fei Long is a fictional character in the Street Fighter game series. As one of the four new characters introduced in the game, he made his first appearance in Super Street Fighter II in 1993.
The character typically wasn't played for laughs and fun. Fei Long is instead known for staying serious and fight-focused during his numerous appearances.
In Super Street Fighter II, Fei Long is depicted as an action film star from Hong Kong. He enters the World Warrior tournament to test his skill as a martial artist. Eventually, as the game ends, he gives up his film career and forms his own kung-fu style known as the Soaring-Heaven style.
Fei Long has appeared in other Street Fighter media, including the animated films and series, comics as well as subsequent games such as Street Fighter Alpha 3 and the home versions of Street Fighter IV.
