World Mental Health Day: Anxiety Relief Mobile Games to Download

We can all agree it's been hard for people all over the world and that we can still feel the effects of the pandemic until now despite it finally simmering down. A lot are still picking up the pieces. There are also those who already suffered from anxiety prior to the pandemic and recent events added to it.

There are various ways in which we can manage the unease that we feel. Some meditate, others distract themselves with hobbies, and some just give it the good ol' shrug-off. Of course, you can always resort to playing games that are accessible to anyone who has a phone. Here are game suggestions that might help you reduce your anxiety.

Pokémon Go

Pokémon Go skyrocketed to fame the moment it launched. Unfortunately, the hype was short-lived. That doesn't mean you can't play it anymore. Not only is it a blast from the past for those who played it before, but it also encourages its user to explore the outside world in order to play the game.

A little bit of fresh air and an open space ought to relax the mind and let it cool off. Usually, a change of scenery tricks the mind into thinking about something else other than what's making someone anxious. Plus, imagine the sense of happiness when you do find a Pokémon.

Candy Crush

Yes, Candy Crush is regarded as a game played by middle-aged people, but that is not true at all. The game is good for all ages, and it is a relaxing one at that too. You can spend your time matching candies by three, four, or five until you reach a certain goal.

You won't be able to deny the sense of achievement once you finish a game after all the brain power you put into strategizing which candy to crush.

Wordscapes

The game's premise is for you to find words using a set of letters within the circle. What's good about it is not only does it relax your mind, it sharpens it too. By trying to figure out the words held within an anagram, you get the gears in your brain working, and a boost of happy hormones every time you complete a level will counter your anxiety.

Tetris

There's something satisfying about stacking blocks upon blocks perfectly. Don't ask us why; it's just the way it is. Tetris brings back a lot of memories for several generations since it is a classic game.

As the game progresses, the rate at which the blocks fall starts to accelerate, and with that, our attention to it grows, leaving little for other things like worries and anxiety. It was even mentioned on mentalhealthcenter.com, that Tetris is used in "clinical settings in order to help treat symptoms of PTSD" which is pretty neat.

My Oasis: Relaxing, Satisfying

If your idea of a relaxing game does not include brain teasers or doing any form of physical activity, then My Oasis would be perfect. It's an idle-clicker gamer where all you have to do is collect hearts to obtain various animals like the fox, deer, elephant, giraffe, penguin, and whale to complete your oasis. The background music also provides for peaceful and relaxing gameplay.
