5 Video Game Glitches That Will Make You ROFL for Real

Video games are one of the most popular forms of entertainment media in the world, witht he video game industry producing many genres that caters to gamers' tastes.

However, making them is not easy due to all the coding and quality assurance involved, and even with enough time, there are just some bugs that would only appear after a developer releases a game.

Fortuantely, not all bugs and glitches are game breaking - some can behilarious to warrant a stay of execution from developers and even become a meme.

Here are some of the memes that made us laugh so hard, we literally rolled on the floor laughing:

Skyrim Space Program

If you've played The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, then you know how this goes. You're exploring a vast expanse of Whiterun in a fresh playthrough when you suddenly encounter a giant and its herd of mammoths.

You could be the smart Dragonborn and stay well away from them or attack them and level up quickly - an idea that spelled the doom of many a player in the game's long history. So up you go, charging in with sword in hand disregarding the giants' protests.

When you're close enough to swing your sword, the giant smashes their club straight down at you, but you didn't splat on the ground. Instead, you went up and away from Tamriel's soil and into space for Divines (all nine of them) knows how long.

It's not a glitch. It's a hilarious feature, and people love it for being in the game.

Heavy Rain Shaun Glitch

Another hilarious glitch that breaks immersion and character is the infamous "Shaun Glitch." You may have read our review on Heavy Rain and that it is one of the best interactive drama video games in the industry, but for those unaware, Heavy Rain follows the story of four characters trying to figure out either the identity of the serial killer known as the Origami Killer or the location of their latest victim before it's too late.

The epilogue (SPOILER ALERT) has Ethan, one of the game's protagonists, rescue the Origami Killer's latest victim, his son, Shaun, from a well filled with rainwater. However, before doing so, players can explore the abandoned warehouse Shaun is in to find him while yelling his name.

The glitch happens when players press the button to show Ethan's thoughts while spamming the button to call out Shaun's name, glitching the feature to make it available even when in a cutscene.

FIFA 14 Giant Hand Glitch

Soccer (or Football for people across the pond) can be frustrating, especially for goalkeepers who must make sure the ball doesn't get through them. However, with the size of the hands humanity evolved with, doing that will be a challenge without the proper instinct.

Thankfully, we can throw reality out the window in a video game. In Fifa 14, players can trigger a glitch that can make everyone's hands big - enough for a goalkeeper to use one of their hands to block the ball.

If that isn't enough a benefit, think about the players running around with their giant hands failing around the field. It makes for a good laugh if nothing else.

Nuclear Gandhi

One of the most infamous glitches known in the gaming community since the 90s, Nuclear Gandhi is the virtual antithesis of the message the real Mohandas Gandhi preached.

The reason behind the glitch is due to the game's settings placing Gandhi's aggression value at its lowest possible value. As such, making friends with him will lower the value further, causing it to roll back around to the highest value.

Gamers first noticed the glitch in Civilization II, according to Know Your Meme, but Sid Meier, the creator of the franchise, said that no such bug existed and that nuclear Gandhi was first implemented in Civilization v as a joke, per Gamespot and For The Win.

Battlefield 3 Beta Worm People

The military's training program for recruits comes with obstacle courses that would make you crawl like a worm for a good reason: there are situations in the field where you have to go under things so low you have to be a worm to crawl.

However, we didn't think DICE would take that idea, ran with it, and took it to a new level in the beta version of Battlefield 3. In the game's beta version of its multiplayer game, characters' legs would randomly stretch out and start wiggling before returning to their normal human-appropriate sizes. Some character models even had their necks extend to the length of a giraffe's - a hilarious sight on a battlefield.

However, DICE and EA quickly put the glitch to rest with a patch preventing it from happening again.
