Bethesda Might Add New Vegas Content to Fallout 4

Bethesda might have something big in store for gamers soon.

The game-developing company behind The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and the upcoming Starfield is possibly planning to add Fallout: New Vegas-themed content for Fallout 4 based on the company's recent activity.

It is possible that two developers from the company that created Fallout: New Vegas are connected with the possible addition to Fallout 4, considering the statement they gave in February, per PCGamesN

Fallout: New Vegas Content For Fallout 4 Details

Fallout fans reported that they found some intriguing changes to Fallout 4's backend on Steam after an update on Apr. 4, which was visible on SteamDB, per PC Gamer. According to the website, Bethesda added a branch labeled "newvegas2," which may be a hint that the company might have Fallout: New Vegas content for Fallout 4 in mind.

For those unaware, adding a branch is the kind of change a game developer might make in advance before adding new content or a beta test beginning to an already released game. The way Bethesda named the branch could be a strong hint that the new content is somehow connected to Fallout: New Vegas

Unfortunately, Bethesda deleted the branch in the late hours of Apr. 5, possibly in an attempt to prevent further speculation on its plans for Fallout 4

While Fallout: New Vegas-themed content is one of the most possible explanations for the branch's addition to Fallout 4's backend, there are other, more likely explanations for it. It could be a joke or a stunt from Bethesda to increase hype and attention for the upcoming Fallout 4 next-gen update.

Interestingly enough, Bethesda added the branch after adding a variety of file depots that had the same designation: "beta2," which is probably for Fallout 4's next-gen update, which adds many features to the game. These include performance mode features for high frame rates, quality features for 4K resolution gameplay, bug fixes, and bonus Creation Club content, per Game Rant.

Another possibility about newvegas2 is that Bethesda is launching a selection of Fallout: New Vegas-themed Creation Club content for players to choose from when it comes out.

Games Radar had reached out to Bethesda regarding the discovery, but the company has yet to respond.

A Possible New Vegas Remaster?

There is another potential explanation for the newvegas2 branch: Bethesda is at the very least planning a sequel or a remaster for Fallout: New Vegas.

The idea isn't exactly farfetched. You may recall that Obsidian developers Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky said in February that they would find a graphical remaster of Fallout: New Vegas " awesome."

"Not that it's up to me, but wouldn't a graphical remaster of Fallout New Vegas be awesome?" Cain said in an interview with The Gamer's Rhiannon Bevan. "It would be awesome," Boyarsky agrees.

Whether Bethesda would develop a remastered version of Fallout: New Vegas is still up for debate.
