HBO’s ‘The Last of Us’ Adds Another Key Cast for Season 2

It looks like the showrunners for "The Last of Us" are getting busy as they cast actor after actor for important roles in the second season. We finally have an actress for Abby Anderson as of yesterday, and the show just announced another casting for the role of Jesse.

Young Mazino as Jesse

As season two nears production this February, the cast for the added characters in The Last of Us Part 2 is slowly being filled. We are all happy about the accurate casting of Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, and it looks like the show is staying on track as they cast Young Mazino for another important character.

You may have seen Mazino in other hit TV shows like "Beef" on Netflix, which had popular names like "The Walking Dead" actor Steven Yeun and comedian Ali Wong. Mazino's performance in the series shows us that he's more than talented enough to pull off the role.

It's quite possible that Jesse will get a lot of screen time for the second season, considering that he will also accompany Ellie as they find Tommy. As mentioned in Kotaku, he plays an important role not just in Ellie's path to revenge but in Dina's life as well.

The game may not have shown the relationship between Jesse and Dina, but it was mentioned more than once that they used to be together. He also happens to be (spoiler ahead) the father of Dina's baby, who we later come to know as JJ or Potato (as Ellie calls him).

The second season is already shaping up to be a good one, especially with Kaitlyn Dever putting a face to one of the most important characters in the second game. An actress of her caliber would do Abby's intense narrative justice.

If there's anything that we're not looking forward to, it's probably what every single person who has played the sequel is already expecting. Not only is it sad for the fanbase, maybe even upsetting, but it means that we'll say goodbye to a loved actor on the show.

There Are Still Cast Announcements to Expect

As you can notice, there is still one missing character that we can't wait to meet. "The Last of Us" has yet to find or reveal the actress who will play Dina, who is the love interest of Ellie in the game. Fans have speculated that we already saw a glimpse of her in season one.

When Joel and Ellie finally arrived at Jackson, it was the first time in a while that they had a proper warm meal. As they were chomping down and chatting, Ellie noticed a girl from afar watching them and told her off.

This drives the girl away but not before we notice what she looks like, and how similar it was to Dina. Could she be the actress for the significant role? According to Forbes, the actress was Paolina van Kleef.

It's unknown whether she will be the same aperson who will play Dina, so we'll have to wait for the announcement for that. It would be cool to cast the face model behind the character, Cascina Caradonna, given that the show also cast Merle Dandridge as Marlene, the same character she played in the game.
