Pokemon GO Plus Review: Is It Really Worth Your Buck?

Months after launching the highly popular Pokemon game, several reported frustrations were seen among its users. The problems that were quickly addressed mainly dwells on the overall design of the game.

The Pokemon Egg Hatching and Buddy System might not be as convenient as it seems for players as it requires a huge battery capacity to keep it running. Since both require players to leave the app open, other apps could not be simultaneously used.

Reports from Otakukart say, "users get disappointed as they mistake the notification to be of more important nature, but only to find out it is not."

Pokemon GO Plus Notifies Users Without The Hassle

Because of recent frustrations, Nintendo was able to make a phone-compatible hardware that balances and tunes out the most irritating parts of the game such as unnecessary notifications. The newest Nintendo product called Pokemon GO Plus is a small device that can be clipped to the user's pocket or to their clothes. Since it comes with a strap, it can also be worn as a watch.

VG247 suggested that the device, which looks similar to a poke-ball, requires a Bluetooth and only takes an ample amount of time to have it synced with the phone. Just like other Nintendo flagships, the device comes in a rock solid built making it completely child-proof, meaning it should be able to withstand any form of recklessness.

The $35 dollar-device buzzes when the user gets near a PokeStop and when the button is pressed, it will buzz once more as the items are being received by the player. When a Pokemon appears, the device buzzes longer.  A green or red flash would appear signaling if the player caught the Pokemon or not, Forbes reported.

Pokemon GO Plus Latest Update

Just recently, a new update for Pokemon GO was unveiled to help gamers customize their notification options. The accessory has been enhanced to make the gadget focus exclusively on PokeStops and Pokemon.

According to Game Rant, players now have more options when using their devices. They can set the hardware so it only focuses on collecting Pokeballs from PokeStops or they can also ignore PokeStops in favor of catching a Pokemon.

An added feature that allows gamers to switch off Buddy Pokemon notifications so players can engage in gym battles or catch Pokemon without losing their connection to the device is also included.

Is Pokemon GO Plus Worth The Price?

Although most fans are enjoying the recent update, there are still some concerns that need to be enhanced. Gamers would want to explore the possibility of player-to-player battles and Pokemon trading. 600 Pokemon are yet to be released in the future.

With the recent highlights, Niantic still has to add more features into the game. With its growing popularity, its prices have shot up over the weekend. In a Nintendo online store in United Kingdon, the accessory is sold at £35 ($43) and is currently out of stock.

The Pokemon GO Plus may only be a companion accessory for the "Pokemon GO" game. However, it is intended to let players keep their phones in their pockets while catching Pokemon on-the-go. Clearly, this might be the best gadget for an avid Pokemon player.
