Nintendo Switch Rumor: PS4 Third Party Game Developers Switching To Switch?

Nintendo Switch is attracting a lot of attention right now from third party game developers. There's a rumor that some PS4 outside game developers are planning to defect to the Switch.

PS4 Game Developer Going to Switch?

The rumor came from WSJ journalist Takashi Mochizuki. He said that a third party PS4 developer is transferring their games to Switch. Mochizuki posted the revelation on Twitter. The reporter did mention the developer's name. But such rumored defection implies that the NVIDIA graphic chip installed on the Switch is capable of running PS4 games.

Nintendo Switch Long List Of Potential Developers

The Nintendo Switch reveal video got more than 12 million views as of press time. Many of the listed partners are major game developers. Most of them however, have yet to officially announce a game developed for the Switch. The trailer did give some hints of its graphic capability but Nintendo officials were short on specifics. The rumor however, has at least implied that the Switch has the capability of running games designed for the PS4 or Xbox One.

Nintendo Switch Learns From Wii U.

Nintendo seems to have learned from its Wii U mistakes. The Switch will have a better hardware specs than the Wii U. However, the upcoming Nintendo platform will be using the NVIDIA Tegra which uses the ARM architecture as opposed to the x86 used by its game console rivals.

The Tegra chip however, is powerful enough to run games such as Bethesda's Skyrim. Game developers who port their games to Android devices won't have any problem porting to Switch since both are using the ARM specs.

The video trailer also showed that the upcoming Nintendo Switch will be using game cartridges to store games. One advantage of the cartridge or flash drive is players will not have to wait for long installations before playing a game.
