Clash Royale: Barbarians vs Elite Barbarians, Which Is Actually Better?

With the recent leak about the upcoming 4 new cards this November in Clash Royale, we've already seen how devastating the new Epic cards are namely: the Tornado and the Electro Wizard. But another troop has caught the attention of the many - the Elite Barbarians. This card cost a staggering 6 Elixirs which makes it 1-Elixir more than the normal barbarians and on par with the Royal Giant. A lot of fans are commenting that the Elite Barbarians are not worth the cost but is it really true? Today, we'll be talking about Elite barbarians: their effectiveness, how they par with normal barbarians and if it's actually "worth it."

Clash Royale: A Comparison between Barbarians and Elite Barbarians

Let's first compare the stats between the two cards in tournament standard of course. Note: If you haven't yet  looked at the detailed patch update, here's the article for the complete Clash Royale November Update.

Now, on paper, you may be saying that Elite barbarians are a joke in comparison to the Barbarians with an added 1-point in Elixir cost. But before you go jumping into conclusion, take note that in actuality, Elite Barbarians overcome the most challenging counters for the normal Barbarians and that is, AoE spells.

Advantages of Elite Barbarians from the Normal Barbarians

With an effective 254 HP increase from the normal Barbarians (NB), the Elite Barbarians (EB) can withstand a full blast of tournament level Zap as well as most of the AoE damaging effects such as Bowler, Fire Spirits, Log, etc. making the card a better choice when sieging as it'll require your opponent to expend more Elixir to finish them off. This simple notion makes EB a better choice as it can create a better Elixir trade to your opponent.

Another advantage to the EB is the fact that they can effectively destroy towers when paired with another high DPS troop such as a Mega Minion. The best thing about this is that it can apply a considerable amount of pressure to your opponent during sieging as you can make use of your squishy swarm troops on the other lane without the fear of an AoE spell like Lightning as your opponent has to decide between the two sieging troops.

Conclusion

On paper, NB can definitely dish out more output than the EB if and only if, your opponent does not initiate any countermeasures. Basically, there are a lot of counters to NB due to its small HP pool which the EB makes up for it for just an added 1 Elixir cost. It is true, however, that there are a lot of better 6-Elixir cost cards out there but you can never go wrong with EB in comparison to the NB.
