Motorola News: Moto M Leaked Images, Specs, Price Rumors And Moto Mod Concept Contest

The new smartphone from Motorola has yet to be officially announced but some of its details and images have surfaced online. Now, press photos of the Moto M have also been leaked.

A series of photos showing the front and the back of the Moto M's retail box has surfaced along with new photos of the handset itself.

At the back of the box are the phone's specifications. These specs along with press renders and previous leaks give a better understanding on what the Moto M, codenamed Kung-Fu, will be like.

Specifications

According to new press renders and previous leaks, the smartphone will have the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS under its hood.

The Moto M, to be powered by Mediatek Helio P15 with an octa-core 2.2 GHz CPU and a Mali-T860 GPU, will have a 5.5-inch display that supports full HD 1080 x 1920 resolution. It will have 4GB of RAM and 2GB of internal storage with a possibility to expand up to 128GB thanks to the microSD card slot.

The rear 16-megapixel camera comes with Phase Detection Autofocus. A secondary 8MP camera for selfies and video calls is at the front.

As for its look, press photos published first by Nowherelse.fr, a French publication, indicates that the Moto M will have a metal unibody design. One of the images shows the mounted fingerprint scanner and rear-facing camera. The front of the Moto M, shown in another photo, shows the USB Type-C port and speaker grill which are located at the bottom while the 3.5mm audio port and SIM card slot is at the top of the phone.

The estimated value of the Moto M in Indian Rupees is Rs 20,300 to Rs 24,000. That's equivalent to around $300 to $365.

Details about the new Moto M were first leaked in late October after a flyer containing images of the new device.

The model that will be made available in China will come with pre-installed Skype, Microsoft Office, and OneDrive.

Moto Mods Contest

In related news, Motorola is calling on developers to submit entries for a contest to determine the best ideas for new Moto Mods. Motorola is launching the Moto Mods Developer contest with Indiegogo.

Winning ideas have a chance to be included in the features of Motorola's devices. The ten winning developers will meet with the Moto Mods executive team in the company's Chicago headquarters.

Everyone who submits an idea will get a chance to go to hackathon events in New York and San Francisco next month.

The Moto M is slated to be announced on Nov. 8.
