"The Vampire Diaries" season 8, episode 4 titled "An Eternity of Misery" has been spoiled to bring Stefan and Alaric together on a mission to discover the roots of Sybil, while Damon discovers something that will surprise him as he faces off against Peter Maxwell. Matt's dad is in town, but the question is what is he doing in Mystic Falls?

Stefan And Alaric Team Up

Set Caroline (Candace King) aside for now as Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Alaric (Matt Davis) set on a mission together to find the roots of Sybil (Nathalie Kelley). "The Vampire Diaries" season 8, episode 4 spoilers reveal that the duo's mission will go well with them except for one thing - the artifact that could lead them to Sybil's origin will land in Damon's (Ian Somehalder) hands.

Who Is In The Artifact?

While everyone is chasing down the artifact for different purposes, Damon will be able to find it. Damon has been hell-bent in his mission to look for the artifact as he is curious why Sybil so badly needs it. According to recent spoilers, the artifact houses Sybil's sister. In the official trailer for episode 4, Sybil revealed to Stefan and Alaric that she has been looking for her sister.

Matt's Dad In Town

On the other hand, Joel Gretsch's character Peter Maxwell has been spoiled to be Matt's (Zach Roerig) long lost dad. What is Matt's dad doing in Mystic Falls? Some theories reveal that Peter will shed light on the family's supernatural background which explains why Matt has not been killed in Mystic Falls since the previous season considering he is the sole person in town. Meanwhile, Peter will encounter Damon in Texas as the latter pursues his mission to find the artifact. What could be Matt's father's link to the artifact?

"The Vampire Diaries" season 8, episode 4 airs Friday, Nov. 11 at 8:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
