For those who wish to win Civilization 6 early, knowing these handy tips and tricks would be handy. Players only need a little time to discover that Civilization 6 is no longer the same game that it was before. The new features can be overwhelming and even confusing for Civilization 6 veterans. So how much more the rookies to the game? But if you wish to win Civilization 6 early with all its new features, then knowing these tips and tricks to win the game would be very handy.

Build Up Your Army First

One of the most notable differences with Civilization 6 is its standing army. Compared to Civ 5, workers are now called builders in Civ 6. The way they work are also different. Workers take plenty of turns when improving a tile. Builders on the other hand can build and improve almost instantly. Because of this, you put off making your first builder first. Instead, you should build up your army early. Once you have the might of your army, scouting the city is much easier with the help of your scout and warrior.

Location Is Important For Your First City

Each civ will always start off with a soldier and a settler. To put down roots, it's best that you build your first city near the ocean or river. Doing this will help promote population growth for your civ. Also, make sure that the city you will choose will have a supply of healthy food. To see whether the location you want for your city is strategic, you have to turn on the yield overlay and leave it on. The lower left portion of your screen will show a minimap with four icons. Each icon represents something. Corn means food, gears means production and music notes mean culture. Grids with corn and gears resource icons will help you build assignments faster.

Diversify Your Cities

One of the most important things you need to know in Civilization 6 is that sticking to just one kind of city is a definite no-no. By diversifying your cities, you can grow your empire and help your civ win faster. For example, you should have a coastal city for your naval units. Cities that are centrally located can be used for military training. Some cities do not need districts while other cities allow you to generate gold or focus on improvements that boost production. But of course, be wise when choosing the cities you want to build.

Plan Your District Layout Ahead Of Time

Districts are something new to Civilization 6. With Districts, you get a super-charged tile that comes with resources bonuses and allows you to construct special building. However, Districts are limited by population so it's best that you decide early on which Districts you want in your city and where you want to build them. Location is important because extra bonuses await Districts with what's around it. For every type of victory, there is a specific district that you can add to help you win the game faster. You can even experiment and see which Districts works the best for your civ.

Be Aggressive In Expanding

Rapid expansions are penalized in Civ 5, but not in Civ 6. In this case, you have to take advantage of the opportunity and expand in as much land as you can. You can aim to have three or more cities built by having a turn 60, turn 70 or even turn 100.

Fight Barbarians

Barbarians in Civilization 5 are pushovers - but not in Civilization 6. The barbarians in this game will ruin your civ with appalling efficiency. Because of that, you have to be aggressive in fighting them off. Kill off any barbarians that will come your way. For a +5 attack bonus, unlock the Discipline policy by researching the Code of Laws civic and enact it against them. You can also research the Archery and attack barbarian encampments even from two tiles away. Just remember to protect your capital city if you are out hunting for the lawless brutes.

Surprise Wars Are Not Recommended

Unless you happen to be in the Ancient Era, surprise wars can cause you to suffer from heavy warmonger penalties.  Avoid this by denouncing the target of your disdain. Wait five turns, state your reasons to start a war or your Casus Belli and formally declare a war. The easiest way to roll out other civs is to start a war. But you have to have a strong army first to be able to do that. There is another guide to help you win the Civilization 6 without even waging war. You might want to check it out.

Know What Other Countries Are Up To

Mysteries are no longer mysteries in Civilization 6. All you have to do is send delegations to other countries and you will know what the other countries are up to. Most of the information may not always be specific but it provides you with an idea of what your competitors are trying to do. In short, you can easily spy on your enemy's movements and see how everyone else is trying to carve out their own territory.

Take Advantage Of The City-States

City-states allow you to earn envoys when you complete quests. Thus, you will be able to turn your bonuses into culture, faith, gold, production or science depending on how many envoys you have. The more city-states you discover, the more you can complete their quests. The more quests you accomplish, the more bonuses you can have. These bonuses in turn can do big things for your success early on in the game.

Learn And Understand The Four Victory Conditions

There are different victory conditions that you can play in Civilization 6: Culture, Domination, Religious and Science. Each victory requires different ways for you to conquer the world. For Culture, it's all about tourism, foreign tourists and making them happy. For Domination, it's all about controlling every other capital of different nations and relying on military might. For Religious, it's all about using holy sites and becoming friends with religious agents and converting at least half of every other civilization to your faith. For Science, it's all about building new technologies, launching a space satellite and finally establishing a Martian colony.

Carefully Pick Your Leader

Civilization 6 comes with 20 different leaders to choose from and each leader is dependent on your play style. For newbies in Civ 6, a Science victory is best to start with. Domination sounds easy but is harder to win in reality. Religion is likely to make you enter into war and Culture is the most tricky victory to enter into.

Maximize Trade Routes

In other Civilizations games, workers have to work very hard to build roads. In Civ 6, roads in between cities are constructed automatically along trade routes. With these routes, you can deliver food or gold, move your domestic goods anywhere around the map easily, do production and culture, or give your civ a connection between your allies.

Specialize Your Technology

In the same way that you should specialize your cities, you should also specialize the technologies that you are going to use. Each technology in Civilization 6 would take time to research. Because it eats up your time, always open the tech tree and see which technology will help you best. Also, choose ones that is already available for research. In short, plan well and plan ahead of what you might need in the future.

With these tips, you will be able to get your civilization start off on the right foot. Not only that, you can stay competitive as you wish even if you are just beginning into the game. You can even carry that victory into the middle and up until the end of the game.
