More details about Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time has been released by Square Enix today. This includes characters, location, battle system and screenshots. The screenshots of the game for both PS4 and 3DS version caused anticipation for all the Dragon Quest fans.

Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time Characters

Protagonist. The protagonist of the game is a 16-year old young man who lives in a quiet village of Ishi. During his "coming of age" ceremony, he learns something that will change his life. He is the reincarnation of a hero who once saved the world. Because of that, he is bound to face his fate and leave his hometown to carry out the mission.

Emma. She is a close friend of the protagonist. Emma was born the same day as him and did their coming of age ceremony together. She is the first one that sees the birthmark on the protagonist's birth mark on his left hand that shines when he is in danger.

Camus. Camus is a thief with blue hair whom the protagonist encounters on his journey. Despite being rude sometimes, he is a reliable partner. His role is to support and guide the protagonist as they venture into the vast world.

Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time World

The game is set in a world named Lotozetasia with its source of life from a sacred tree called "The Great Tree of Life." The said tree sits in the center of the world, which only a brave hero can communicate with if he proves his worth. The Ishi village where the protagonist comes from is located in a corner of a valley. Villagers are living peacefully while worshipping the spirits of the earth. They have a tradition to climb a mountain called Rock of Gods once reached the age of sixteen to offer prayers to these earth spirits.

Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time will be released in 2017 but Square Enix did not mention specifics. It is a single-player role-playing game that will be supported by PlayStation 4 and 3DS. The screenshots of the game for both platforms can be seen here.
