Nokia Has Finally Unveiled Its First Smartphone For 2017

HMD Global has finally unveiled its first smartphone for 2017, the Nokia 6. A quick fun fact regarding this smartphone: though it is reported to have been developed by Microsoft, it runs on Android Nougat. It is even branded as the "first Nokia smartphone powered by Android."

Price And Release Date

The price of the Nokia 6 is reported to be 1699 Yuan ($246). For its release date, HMD Global stated that it will be released earlier this year in China through JD.com. In case you're wondering if this handset will reach the shores of the U.S., the company did not mention at all.

Design

Based on the leaked video of the Nokia 6, its front design features Home button that has a Fingerprint Scanner (hopefully customizable just like the recent introduced and released 2017 mid-range smartphones that were released just this year) and the name Nokia engraved at the top left of the screen next to the front camera. At the back, it has a rear camera with some kind of a sensor just below it and also the name Nokia printed. And for its overall design, it flaunts a stylish aluminum build which could possibly mean it can be prone to scratches and a lot of fingerprints.

Display

The Nokia 6 features a 5.5-inch screen. For its screen type, there is no specific detail, but it is reported to have a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080. The screen is also said to have a 2.5D Gorilla Glass.

Platform and Internal Memory

The Nokia 6 runs on Android Nougat and is powered by a Snapdragon 430 chip. For its internal memory storage, it features a 64 GB built-in storage with 4 GB of RAM. It also has an expandability option of 128 GB via microSD.

Battery And Camera

The Nokia 6 features a 16 MP PDAF rear camera with an aperture of f/2.0. Upfront, it features a 8 MP camera. And for its battery, it houses a 3000 mAh battery.
