Street Fighter V short video guide clips are appearing online. One of the most popular topics is how to deal with throws.

Throws In Street Fighter V

Throws are one of the effective moves in the fighting game. It can help or cause players to win or lose a match. Learning to dish out or break a throw is a skill worth learning.

Stay Out Of Range

Street Fighter V players' first line of defense against throws is to keep out of their opponent's range. The safe distance though will depend on the character you are facing.

Breaking the Throw

Players only have a very short escape window once the opponent attempts to deliver a throw. Pugilist Penguin in his tutorial mentioned that fighters have 1/6 of a second to break the throw. The timing is tricky but doable. You need to press the light punch and light kick buttons at the same time within that short time frame.

Tick Throws

Sometimes players are fooled by tick throws. It's a deceptive move in which the opponent feints a throw attempt but instead lunges forward and attacks. This tactic is quite effective since it leaves your character open for attack once it responds to the fake throw.

The Shimmy Counter

A Shimmy is situation where your opponents feints a throw attempt but backs off at the last minute. The enemy though will catch your character of guard while it's still recovering from the throw. Players can block the Shimmy by going on the offensive. One favorite tactics is to launch a series of Low Light Kicks as your enemy is stepping backward. This can effectively discouraged the opponent from launching another Shimmy against you.

Practice is Necessary

Street Fighter V players need time to hone their throw breaking skills. This is only possible through a decent amount of practice. But once you get the hang of it, the acquired skill will become second nature during the match.
