These Overwatch Skins Are Starting To Unsettle Players

Blizzard always leans on the creative side when delivering new kinds of skins for each character. However, sometimes their ideas backfire and end up disturbing their fanbase instead.

Overwatch Hero Ana Dons a Traditional Korean Mask

The two latest holiday events gave players a chance to unlock some fancy new skins, sprays, emotes and highlight intros. While everything seemed well and good, two specific skins seemed actually quite disturbing to the point of being frightening. While Blizzard might not have meant any harm, many fans still took to social media to express their thoughts on the matter.

Firstly, Kotaku reports that the new Ana skin is frightening as she dons a traditional Korean Talchum mask called the 'hahoetal.' Back from where it hails from, people use the mask in dances and during celebrations over the holidays. What seems to be 'scary' about it is the exaggerated facial feature it has to explicitly depict emotions.

To those who are unfamiliar with the idea find the whole costume frightening, especially during one of Ana's highlight intros. During the sequence, the mask might come off as the sadistic grin of a killer who has just found her prey. Many fans have already brought up the topic and have been making many memes around the whole concept.

Zenyatta Arrives With Nuts Instead of Snowballs

That aside, fans were completely taken by surprise after Blizzard revealed Zenyatta's Nutcracker Christmas skin, as per Mic. Most of the fanbase initially believed that his orbs would become something festive like ornaments or snowballs. Instead, the gaming company decided to be a bit unpredictable and released a completely unique costume for the character.

While most fans took the surprise rather positively, some were still unsettled with the puppet-like doll features of the skin. Nonetheless, his orbs were replaced with nuts which spawned a whole batch of jokes on the internet.

Blizzard surely knows how to shock their fans with new and quality skins while paying homage to its respective origins. Fans should expect even more crazy content to come as the game will get even more themed events in the near future. For now, players can enjoy the ongoing 'Year of the Rooster' event by playing Overwatch on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
