Nokia 3 vs Samsung Galaxy S8: What Do We Know So Far?
We just heard that HMD Global Oy is planning to announce the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 (a re-launch) and a modern version of the Nokia 3310 at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) event. However, there was just too little information known about the Nokia 3 and people wanted to know more about the said smartphone.
Speaking about smartphones, there is also the Galaxy S8, Samsung's flagship phone for this year and is quite a hot topic right now, thanks to the amounts of leaks that have been surfacing around the net. So, what do we know so far about these smartphones?
According to the reports, the Nokia 3 is expected to cost around €149, which translates roughly to $157. As for the Galaxy S8, it is said to cost $100 more than the Galaxy S7, making it around $900.
The Launch Date
Reports suggest that the Nokia 3 will be rolling-out either in March or April after its announcement event at the MWC. On the other hand, the Galaxy S8 is said to have its unpacking event in March 29 while its availability on the market will likely be on April 21.
Details about Nokia 3's are still kept under wraps. However, it is safe to say that it would be closer to Nokia 6's design.
As for the Galaxy S8, recent leaks suggest that it will be 0.1-mm thicker than the Galaxy S7 and the measurement of its protruding lens at the back will be reduced to 0.2 mm. On the sides, it is said to have rounded corners with the power button underneath the volume button.
At the front, it is expected to have fewer bezels, display aspect ratio of 18:9 and an iris scanner. Speaking about scanners, the fingerprint scanner could possibly be placed at the back right beside the rear camera. Aside from that, the phone will also have a Type-C USB port, a headphone jack and stereo speakers.
The Nokia 3 is rumored to either have a 5.2 or 5.3-inch display with a 720p screen resolution. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S8 will have a QHD SAMOLED 5.8-inch display with a DCI-P3 color gamut, giving it more color range and a restructuring of the pixels for a much sharper and brighter display.
The Nokia 3 is said to run on Android 7.0 Nougat and will be powered by a Snapdragon 425 chipset, clocked at 1.4 GHz. It will also have 308 graphics unit.
As for the Galaxy S8, it will be packed with either a Snapdragon 835 or Exynos 8895 processor, depending on where you buy it. It is also said to run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat.
The Internal Memory
The Nokia 3 is expected to feature a 16 GB internal memory with 2 GB of RAM. Whereas the Galaxy S8 will have 64 GB and 128 GB partnered with 4 GB of RAM. The Samsung phone is also reported to have a 128 GB expandable memory option.
The Nokia 3 is rumored to have a 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front-facing camera. However, for the time being, there are no known reports yet about the Samsung Galaxy S8's camera specs.
In regards to the Nokia 3's battery specification, there is no information about it yet. However, for the Galaxy S8, it is reported to house a 3,000 mAh battery.
Currently, there are no reports yet if the Nokia 3 will have any special features worth mentioning. As for the Galaxy S8, rumors suggest that it will have a PC-like interface, a voice assistant called Bixby and possibly a 3D Touch feature.
