White Wolf Publishing has recently released the first new title in the Vampire The Masquerade franchise in a decade. The new game is entitled Vampire The Masquerade: We Eat Blood. It is also joined by a sister title called Mage The Ascension: Refuge. Both are pieces of interactive fiction inspired by the popular Choose Your Own Adventure books. The games are available on iOS and Android from Asmodee Digital and on Windows PC.

In the game Vampire The Masquerade: We Eat Blood, the protagonist is a young artist who wakes up to find that he is no longer mortal. We Eat Blood is a mature and terrifying story about the protagonist’s first nights as an unwilling predator which is told entirely through an innovative mobile messaging perspective. The game We Eat Blood has not strayed away and has stayed true to form to the themes common in the Masquerade Universe. Refuge, on the other hand, appears to be more topical. The game revolves around the story of a volunteer in a Syrian refugee camp who suddenly discovers that magic is real. The actions of the players will have profound influences and consequences on the character and the world around the player.

The two new World of Darkness games have been released within a month of Werewolf: The Apocalypse. Vampire The Masquerade is a franchise that is legendary among every 90’s kid RPG fanatic.  The game is suddenly back in action and fans are very excited about the new release, as published by Polygon.

The games are described as interactive fiction and are presented in messaging format. This may suggest that World of Darkness has incorporated modern technology.
