Samsung Galaxy S3 And Galaxy Note 2 To Get Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Update In May
Soon users of Samsung's old warhorses, the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2, will be able to get a taste of the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS, if a new report is to be believed. What's more, a slew of other Galaxy smartphones are also pegged to receive the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean software update, which will be rolled out by the end of May.
Currently, Samsung's 2013 flagship Galaxy S4 runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and now older devices from the Korean company are set to have it as well. Samsung had previously let on that it would roll out the Android 4.2.2 update to older devices after Galaxy S4's release and the latest report from PC-Tablet would suggest it will keep its promise.
According to PC-Tablet, citing anonymous sources, the update will roll out after the announcement of the much-awaited Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie at the Google I/O event on May 15.
"Samsung will start rolling out the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for both Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 by the end of this month. It is likely that this update will come after the announcement of Android 5.0 (Key Lime Pie) at Google I/O on May 15th," notes PC-Tablet.
The website also received "a pre-list of upcoming Android updates" that Samsung is slated to push out. The list reveals the smartphones that are scheduled to receive Android 4.2.2 and will later get updated to Android 5.0 as well.
What's more, in early April, even reliable tech site SamMobile confirmed via a Twitter post that the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 would get Android 4.2.2 by end May or early June.
Along with these smartphones, the Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note are also in line to receive Android 4.2.2; however, currently, it is not known by when they will receive the software update (which would likely be the last update for them).
