Acer Goes All Out With An Array Of New Gaming Laptops And Other Devices

Acer just revealed a number of new devices at its recently-concluded annual Next@Acer global press conference held in New York. Among the most interesting devices to come out of the event are a bunch of powerful gaming laptops and some 2-in-1s.

Acer Switch 3

The 12.2-inch Switch 3 comes with a Full HD (1920 x 1200) display, up to 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage. The budget-friendly hybrid (starts at $399) is powered by the latest Intel Pentium and Celeron processors and features Acer's latest cooling technology, LiquidLoop.

Acer Switch 5

According to Tech Radar, the latest premium 2-in-1 laptop from Acer is now the first in its line-up to be powered by either Intel Core i5 or i7 processor while utilizing a fanless design. This is made possible by the new LiquidLoop cooling tech which is also the key to the Switch 5's ability to last for 10.5 hours on a single charge. The $799 Switch 5 has 8GB of RAM, up to 512GB of SSD storage, and also hides a fingerprint sensor under the home button.

Acer Predator Helios 300

The Helios 300 will come with either the 7th-gen Intel Core i7-7700HQ or the Core i5-7300HQ CPU. Buyers can also choose between Nvidia's discrete GeForce GTX 1060 or GTX 1050 Ti GPU. The new midrange Predator gaming laptop will also sport either a 15.6-inch or 17-inch display one of which is confirmed to have 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. The smaller version will sell for $1,300 while the more high-end one will go for $1,400.

Acer Predator Triton 700

The Triton 700 is meant for the really, really serious gamer. It packs an Intel Core i5 or Core i7 processor, up to 32GB DDR4, up to 512GB PCle SSD, and a GTX 10 GPU. The 15.6-inch display has a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. The 5.7-pound premium Predator laptop has 3 USB Type-A ports along with an HDMI and a USB-C Thunderbolt. Price starts at $3,000 and will be available starting August.

Acer Nitro 5

There are only a few details known about the Nitro 5 as Acer seems to have forgotten to include it in their press materials. What is known is that it will come with the Nvidia GeForce 1050 or 1050 Ti GPU. Other known features of the low-cost gaming laptop are a PCle SSD drive, the Coolboost tech, and Dolby Audio Premium with Acer TrueHarmony.

Acer Aspire U27

Acer's new all-in-one PC comes with a 27-inch 1080p screen, new-generation Intel CPU, up to 32GB of RAM, and HDM input, and the LiquidLoop tech allowing it to utilize a fanless design. The $1,099 Aspire U27 will be released in July.

Other Devices

CNET listed down Acer's other releases which include the Swift 1 and Swift 3 laptops. The 14.95mm thin all-metal Acer Swift 1 is nowhere near the 9.98mm (at the rear end) thin Swift 7 but it still comes equipped with a 13.3-inch full HD display with blue light filters for eye strain reduction while the Acer Swift 3 employs Nvidia graphic chips. The company's latest gaming monitor, the Acer Predator X27, boasts of being a true 4K one. Acer also introduced a new smartwatch in Leap Ware, a round fitness tracker that works with Android and iOS. The Acer Holo 360, meanwhile, is a handheld 360-degree camera with integrated LTE and Wi-Fi.
