Moto X leaks in black and white hues

Rumors of the upcoming Moto X have been emerging very frequently and now leaked images show the handset in white and black color options.

A leaked roadmap of US Cellular and Verizon points towards a mid to late August launch of the handsets on the carrier. Canadian carrier Rogers is also expected to get the handset in August this year.

"According to an internal we received shows that Rogers will have an exclusive on the Moto X in Canada, with a launch date scheduled for this August. This will run Android OS 4.2 Jelly Bean and 'heavily leverages Google acquisition of Motorola.' The Moto X will be an LTE-enabled device running on Rogers LTE Max network," previously reported MobileSyrup.

Various images of the upcoming handsets have emerged online; however, the recent Twitter post from @evleaks suggests the leaked images in black and white to be the press renders of the smartphone.

iPhones are well-known in the smartphone arena for launching smartphones in only black and white colors. However, rumors indicate that the purported budget iPhone expected to launch soon will be available in various new colors. Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One were initially available only in two color options, but later on Samsung introduced five more colors to the Galaxy S4 and HTC One received Glamour Red in select regions.

Similarly, the Moto X may be launched in only a few colors but could later get more colors to appeal to a wider audience.

The Moto X phone is expected to be a top-end smartphone which will likely give stiff competition to other high-end smartphones available in the market such as the Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One, iPhone 5, Nokia Lumia devices and more.

Motorola has already confirmed that it is working on the Moto X smartphone and has also sent out press invites for an event scheduled for Aug. 1 in New York; however, the company has not confirmed if it will launch the Moto X at the event.

If the leaked roadmap of Verizon and US Cellular are to be believed, then we have to wait a few more weeks to see the official launch of the handset.
