Pokemon Go Gym Battle Tip: Picking The Right Pokemon Match For Snorlax

Pokemon Go players or at least many of them are well aware that Snorlax is a top gym defender. However, there are a number of Pokemon available aside from Dragonite that can defeat it.

Anti-Snorlax List

A Reddit user, RedWarpPrism has compiled a list of possible Pokemon contenders for Snorlax. The calculation is a joint work between various Pokemon Go players and Reddit users. The list provided some interesting Pokemon attackers for the Snorlax defender.

Pokemon Good at Dodging Wins

When it comes to dodging, Dragonite is the best Pokemon to do so. However, the fighting Pokemon Machamp is having a hard time dodging attacks from Snorlax. This is a bit bewildering since fighting Pokemon types are in theory good at gym battles. Needless to say Pokemon Go players are advised not to use Machamp or any other fighting type Pokemon against a Snorlax gym defender.

Knowing what attacks to dodge is also an important factor in winning against a Snorlax gym defender. For example, it is best for the attacking Pokemon to dodge a Zen Headbutt because it could deal a damage of -50 percent for a loss of merely +20 percent in time.

However, a Snorlax Lick move will inflict around -25 percent damage and but costs the same +20 percent time. Pokemon Go gym attackers could choose not to dodge the attack especially if they want the battle to end quickly.

Employing "Budget" Pokemon Against a Snorlax

Not all Pokemon Go players have a Dragonite that they can use against a defending Snorlax. Fortunately, there some Pokemon attackers that could do the job as well. The list mentioned Flareon as one of the cheapest Pokemon that could win against a Snorlax gym defender at a considerable speed of one minute and at the same time dodge all of its moves. The Vapereon is also a Pokemon that "only" 30 percent total damage to its health making it survive longer in gym battles.
