The Nintendo NX is arguably the year's most elusive tech device. Despite the rumors and speculation surrounding the upcoming game console from Nintendo, the Japanese company still has not released anything official about the same - not specs, design or even a date for the unveiling. However, it seems that it was just waiting for the most opportune time, which now seems to be the fifth anniversary of Nintendo Direct.

An Unconventional Release

Nintendo Direct is an online presentation that is of course produced by Nintendo. Normally, it provides information about upcoming products like exclusive games and consoles. So while it is definitely possible that the company is using this platform to reveal the NX, it is almost unheard of in the current ways of the industry. But then again, the company as a whole can be considered a little unorthodox.

The Fifth Anniversary Of Nintendo Direct

According to Squish Turtle, the next Nintendo Direct event will take place before the end of the month and will likely be when the mysterious Nintendo NX will be unveiled. Not only is the means specific to the company, but it is also the fifth anniversary of the same. The game console company would essentially be killing two birds with one stone.

An October event has been standard to the company since its first release in 2011. Initially the platform was used to announce "Mario Kart 7" on the Nintendo 3DS. In the years that followed, "Animal Crossing: New Leaf" was announced, as well as Wii U updates, "Super Smash Bros" for the Wii U Direct and "Monster Hunter" announcements.

Why Nintendo Direct

The report is not coming from thin air. A few days ago, an interview with Nintendo of Canada's communications manager, Andrew Collins, was published by GameSkinny. In that interview, Collins disclosed that the company would use a Nintendo Direct event to speak about the console. However, because Collins was not supposed to talk about the Nintendo NX, that part of the interview had to be removed.

Now, the date for the Nintendo Direct event has been unveiled - October 21. The actual Nintendo NX is scheduled for release to the market on March 2017.
