4 Reasons Why Surface Book 2 Beats the 2016 MacBook Pro

Although details pertaining the upcoming 2016 MacBook Pro and Surface Book 2 might not yet be released, speculations about both have taken the internet by storm. The two flagship laptops are going head-to-head and it seems that Microsoft's Surface Book 2 is winning the game.

Surface Book 2, Lighter and Thinner... Better

What makes Microsoft's flagship more appealing is its new sexy and svelte design. The laptop's hinge is re-engineered making it (more than) slim enough to fit in bags and crowded desks.

The Surface Book 2 also sports a removable display that can be either used as a traditional laptop or a standalone tablet device. Meanwhile, it seems impossible for Apple's 2016 MacBook Pro to sport a removable display allowing users to use it like an iPad.

Rumors about 2016 MacBook Pro sporting a stylus pen are circulating but are not yet confirmed. However, the Surface Pen feature is a sure thing for Microsoft's flagship.

Specs Wise, Surface Book 2 Wins

The Surface Book 2 should feature a USB-C port, a 4K display resolution and an 8MP camera. The laptop is also expected to include the 7th generation Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors, mostly known as the Kaby Lake series. The most notable upgrade for the Surface laptop will be its increased battery life for up to 14 hours.

The 2016 MacBook Pro, which is expected to be released this month, will sport a 6th Generation dual-core Intel Core M chips, 10 hours of battery life and an 1866 MHz memory. The said laptop will reportedly include Intel Skylake processors.

Rumors say that MacBook will take a page out of Surface Book and adopt a hinge design to connect the display and keyboard. Apple will reportedly get its hinges from Amphenol, the same supplier Microsoft uses for the Surface.

Last year, Microsoft put the Macbook Pro side-by-side with Surface Book when it unveiled. This time, the reported specs for both devices indicate that the following months will be a major year for laptop competition between Apple and Microsoft.

Surface Book 2, 2016 MacBook Pro Gaming Capability Exceeds Expectations

Gaming on a laptop has just gotten better. While the Surface Book 2 isn't intended or marketed as a gaming device, Microsoft couldn't resist demonstrating its graphical hacks. One of the big selling points of Surface Book 2 is that it offers an optional Nvidia graphics card in higher-end models.

MacBook Pro, on the other hand, plans to step up its game providing graphic processors that are powerful and efficient in rendering video games. The graphics is tipped to be AMD's Polaris 11 GPU, since it is very powerful yet thin to be encased in a laptop's inner body, International Business Times reported.

Surface Book 2, More Expensive But Performs Better

Since both laptops aren't yet out, we are really into speculation territory. If the recently surfaced reports are proven right, the 2016 MacBook Pro will be worth $1,099 for the 13-inch variation and will jump to $2,099 for the 15-inch. Microsoft, on the other hand, comes in a bit higher with $1,433 for the 8GB RAM and $2,921 for i7, 1TB of storage, 16GB of RAM and distinct graphics. Despite the price difference, with all the features packed in the Surface Book 2, I wouldn't mind buying it over than a MacBook Pro anytime of the day.
