The Hanamura map normally favors Overwatch players on the defensive. Some attacking heroes and ults though, can overcome the defenders quickly.

Overwatch Heroes Recommended

Reddit use WiseSalami posted an interesting strategy for Overwatch players placed in the Hanamura map. He noted that the map is surrounded by walls and some of the areas are perfect for setting up ambushes. Both attacking and defending team would gain tactical advantage if one of their teammates is using Mei, according to WiseSalami. She is a defense hero, according to playoverwatch but her Ice Walls are prefect in isolating enemies from each other. Her teammates will have no trouble taking out their opponents one by one.

Offense heroes who will work particularly well in the Hanamura map is Genji although Soldier 76 will also do. Most of the tank heroes too will do well here. Support heroes like Ana, Lucio, Symmetra and Zenyatta have abilities and ults that will be very useful for attacks.

Possible Attack Strategy On How To Cap Hanamura A

WiseSalami proposed a three stage attack that can work even if the team members do not really know each other. A tank like Reinhardt can use his shield as cover for the rest of the team. An opposing Mei can be baited with a D.Va while your own Mei makes her move. Since the defenders are well-entrenched, don't get too close to the DD area.

Ults Needed For Attack

Reinhardt's Earthshatter can be directed to any opposing Tanks who are most likely located in the frontline. Opposing support heroes should be the first target of Zarya's Graviton ult. D.VA can use her Self-Destruct to take out an enemy or two unfortunate enough to be nearby. Roadhog's Whole Hog ult can force the defenders to abandon the DD area. Ana's Nanoboost can help either Soldier 76 or Reinhardt depending on the situation. Lucio's Sound Barrier or Zenyatta's Tranquility is most useful when the opposing DPS starts using their ults. It could also be used to aid your Reinhardt in case he is going to get hit by an opposing Earthshatter.
