Verizon is one of the four major mobile phone carriers in the U.S. which offers top-end smartphones in the country. With so many smartphones to choose from, many customers find picking a suitable smartphone a daunting task and, therefore, we take a look at the top 5 high-end smartphones available on the carrier.

iPhone 5

Apple has always attracted massive numbers of smartphone enthusiasts with the iPhone launch. The iPhone 5, launched in Sept. 2012, was no different and enticed huge number of iFans to buy the handset. For the first time Apple has increased the size of the handset to 4 inches and the handset runs on iOS 6. The handset is also the thinnest and the lightest in the iPhone line-up of smartphones. Verizon sells the handset for $199.99 on a two-year contract and for $649.99 outright.

Samsung Galaxy S4

Samsung recently launched the much-awaited Galaxy S4, which has received a big welcome in the smartphone industry. The credit to the much-created hype goes to the success of the Galaxy S3 which took over the hearts of millions of customers. The Galaxy S4 touts a 4.99-inch display and runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

The handset has a price tag of $250 with a two-year contract on the carrier but you get $50 back after the mail-in rebate, bringing the price of the handset in par with iPhone 5. If you want to buy the handset outright then you end up paying the same amount as the iPhone 5.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is undoubtedly the king of over 5-inch smartphones. The Galaxy Note 2 is still one of the most powerful smartphones around. Even with rumors circling in the smartphone space of the upcoming Galaxy Note 3, the Galaxy Note 2 is liked by many smartphone buyers looking to a buy a bigger smartphone. The handset sports a massive 5.5-inch display.

The handset has a price tag of $299.99 on a two-year contract and a price of $699.99 without contract on Verizon.

HTC Droid DNA

HTC Droid DNA made an appearance in Nov. 2012 and has become one of the important smartphones in Verizon's handset portfolio. The Droid DNA which offers a 5-inch 1080p display is one of the top-end smartphones available on Verizon. The Droid DNA is priced at $199.99 on a two-year contract and for $599.99 outright.

Samsung Galaxy S3

The launch of the Samsung Galaxy S4 has put the Galaxy S3 in the back seat. However, many customers still like the handset and this is one of the reasons that Verizon still has the handset in its smartphone portfolio. The handset has a 4.8-inch display and is priced at $99 on a two-year contract and unfortunately the handset is not available outright from Verizon.
