BlackBerry's upcoming 5-inch flagship, the BlackBerry A10 has now leaked on video, just days after leaked images of the smartphone appeared online.
The Canadian company is planning on launching a new flagship smartphone that will reportedly replace the Z10. The upcoming handset is going by the codename "Aristo" and will officially be called the BlackBerry A10. The smartphone has been rumored for months and some images of the device recently appeared online, giving a glimpese into what to expect. A new video has now surfaced, showing the smartphone in action for the first time, in the hands of a user.
Vivix posted the video to its YouTube page showing off the BlackBerry A10. The short video gives you an idea of how big the smartphone will be and shows a user unlocking the smartphone, flicking through its home screens, opening the settings application and accessing its drop down shade. The device seems to match previously leaked images and looks like a larger Z10 with a more rounded design.
The BlackBerry A10 is expected to feature a 5-inch 1280 x 720 Super AMOLED display. The smartphone will reportedly be powered by a dual-core processor and include a separate graphics chip. It will also pack 2GB of RAM and run an updated version of the BlackBerry 10 OS.
The upcoming flagship is expected to be the last BB10 smartphone BlackBerry will release in 2013. The company has been facing a tough time in recent weeks and it needs a big hit to turn things around. During its last earnings report BlackBerry revealed that sales of both the Z10 and Q10 were much lower than expected, but tried to ease investors and analysts by saying that it was still in the early stages of its BB10 launch. This caused the company's stock price to fall and on Friday, July 12, AT&T, Verizon, and Best Buy all cut the price of the BlackBerry Z10 reportedly due to weak sales of the smartphone.
The BlackBerry A10 is expected to go on sale in the fall and will be offered by AT&T. It remains to be seen whether the A10 and its 5-inch display will be enough to help turn things around for the smartphone maker or if it will only prove another failure, amplifying BlackBerry's downward spiral.
