Studio DEEN revealed more details along with the first trailer for "Reikenzan" Season 2. The anime's second installment titled "Reikenzan: Eichi e no Shikaku" ("Sacred Sword Mountain: Qualification for Wisdom") will premiere in January. The trailer also shows an adult version of Åriku who looks like causing trouble in the human land.
"Reikenzan" Plot Concept
The story is based on a Chinese webnovel, "Cong Qian You Zuo Ling Jian Shan" ("Once Upon a Time There Was a Spirit-Sword Mountain"). The first season titled "Reikenzan: Hoshikuzu-tachi no Utage" ("Sacred Sword Mountain: Stardust's Banquet") follows the story of a boy, Åriku, who joined the entrance exam of the Reiken clan to become a disciple. Åriku does not only have unmatched intelligence and impetuousness, but he also possesses a special soul which is available only once in a thousand years.
The last episode of "Reikenzan" season 1 left off as the chosen disciples left the mountain for a new program that will include 1000 tests. Before leaving Åriku was gifted by his master Åbu with Kenzaken, a rare powerful sword that contains a 1000-year-old spirit. She also warned him that living with ordinary people is difficult and he needs to emphatize with them, but Åriku's goal is to finish the test quickly and get home as fast as possible. The first trailer shows a much older version of Åriku in the human land, he looks awfully prideful as usual. However, it looks like the test will take more time than he expected.
