Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 owners will be happy to know that Verizon has just started sending out its long awaited Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update. The update was reportedly approved by Verizon yesterday as build VRBMB1 and weighs in at 150MB. Verizon lists the official changelog as:
- Keyboard Predictive Text feature has been improved
- User can take pictures while on a call
- Manual refresh button has been added to lock screen stock ticker
- Email syncing has been improved
- Bluetooth® performance has been improved
- VZ Navigator and Amazon have been added to stub applications
If you have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 you can receive the update by going into Settings, scrolling down to About Phone, and tap System Updates. You will then be notified that there's a new software update from Verizon Wireless, tap the OK button and wait for your phone to perform the update. Once it finishes you'll be running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. The update also provides a number of bug fixes and performance tweaks. Verizon's Galaxy S3 support page only states that a software update is coming soon, but it's available via OTA (over the air).
Unfortunately this update does not include the Premium Suite that Samsung began rolling out to Galaxy S3 smartphones outside of the U.S. late last year. Many U.S. Galaxy S3 owners have been hoping that this update would include Samsung's Premium Suite. Samsung's Premium Suite adds some very cool and unique features that debuted on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Some of the most popular features include:
Page Buddy: Your smartphone will predict what you intend to do according to your actions.
Contextual Menu: You can choose to list your apps by most frequently used ones first.
Multi Window: You can open two different apps at the same time and they will appear in two windows on your smartphone.
Facebook Lock Ticker: You can setup your Facebook News Feeds to display on the lock screen of your smartphone.
Paper Artist: You can make a picture like a pop artist and change the moods of your pictures.
Camera Best Face: Best Face takes five consecutive pictures and lets you choose the best face for each person within those 5 shots.
Hopefully Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 users will receive the Premium Suite update very soon, for now you'll have to be happy with the jump to Android 4.1.2.
