Everything New With Amazon Web Services

At the Amazon Web Services Re:invent Developer Conference in Las Vegas held from Nov. 27 to Dec. 1 this year, Amazon announced at least nine new tools for development and operations.

Werner Vogels, CTO of Amazon, delivered a keynote address on the last day of the conference in which he enumerated the new automated tools that AWS will be introducing. Here are some of them:

 

AWS Batch

The AWS Batch will provide batch processing which, simply put, is an efficient way to handle batch computing in the cloud.

AWS OpsWorks for Chef Automate

This tool is a fully managed Chef serves, as described by ZDNet. OpsWorks will automate workflow to attain continuous deployment while also providing and automated testing for compliance and security.

AWS Personal Health Dashboard

This tool will provide developers with the important data regarding the health of the infrastructure involved in running applications. The Personal Health Dashboard will also allow DevOps to utilize AWS to launch cloud applications.

AWS Step Functions

Step Functions is a tool for debugging which allows developers to visually organize the components and retrace each step to find the source of errors.

Amazon Glue

Glue is a data catalog fully managed for easier transferring of data among data stores.

Amazon Pinpoint

Pinpoint is a new analytics tool that aids its users engage more applications and analyze the behavior of mobile customers.

Amazon Shield for Everyone

This tool is for security. It protects web applications running on AWS without requiring any action from the user.

Amazon X-Ray

This tool is just one of a number of AWS tools meant for debugging applications. The X-Ray will provide "a visual way to view and debug and trace issues" according to Tech Crunch.

EC2 Systems Manager

The EC2 Systems Manager is a compilation of tools used for different purposes such as patching, task automation, package installation, and resources configuration.
