2018 Nissan Armada Features Intelligent Rear View Mirror

Nissan will unveil a production version of its long-awaited Intelligent Rear View Mirror in the upcoming 2018 Armada SUV. The Armada will be the first vehicle to have the new rear view mirror, which can see "through" objects obstructing the driver's view.

2018 Nissan Armada is the first company's vehicle to get the special rearview mirror setup. It includes a high-resolution camera to project an image of the car's rear surroundings onto the rearview mirror up front.

In the 2018 Nissan Armada, drivers can switch the projection on and off by pushing a switch at the bottom of the mirror. But keeping the feature active helps drivers see what's happening behind the vehicle without being encumbered by tall passengers or objects in the back seat. This feature also reduces glare and improves visibility in low-light conditions in comparison to a traditional rearview mirror without an LCD monitor.

In Nissan's demonstration video, the Intelligent Rear View Mirror is used to see "through" a bunch of balloons filling the back of the big 2018 Nissan Armada. In the real world, the mirror can be used to see through any obstruction behind the driver, including the tall passengers, bulky items in the cargo space etc., as reported by Motor Trend.

The 2018 Nissan Armada's price starts at $46,795, up $700 from last year. All Nissan's Armadas now come standard with an 8-inch multitouch display, HD Radio, hands-free text messaging assistant, NissanConnect Services powered by SiriusXM, SiriusXM Travel Link and additional USB ports, as reported by Digital Trends.

At the top of the lineup sits the 2018 Nissan Armada Platinum. This tidy comes standard with the Intelligent Rear View Mirror and starts at $59,885, which is $1,100 more than the 2017 version. However, the 2018 Nissan Armada carries over with a 5.6-liter V-8 engine producing 390 hp. The updated 2018 Nissan Armada goes on sale nationwide on September 1.
