Possessing an attractive smile is very important these days. Everyone has become obsessed with a perfectly aligned, shiny white smile. This is because our current beauty standards tell us that teeth that are sparkling white and aligned, create a beautiful smile that never goes unnoticed. People are going all out to do whatever they can to get a healthy, white smile, from buying whitening strips to getting whitening treatments done at a dental clinic, to aligning teeth, and more. It seems that the demand for a coveted smile is not going to end soon, and more advancements in dentistry are only going to follow. In today's article, we'll look at 5 innovative advancements in dental care.

Tooth Powder

Tooth powder is your alternative to toothpaste. Studies have shown that not only is natural tooth powder more effective in removing plaque from teeth, but most tooth powders are even composed of natural and organic ingredients. Tooth powder can even help in restoring teeth and gum health. For example, calcium powder helps remineralize the teeth with calcium to keep teeth strong. To use tooth powder, simple moisten your teeth with water by smearing a wet finger over them and dab some powder on your toothbrush and start brushing.

Zoom Whitening

Tooth whitening has become a huge demand in the cosmetic industry. It's always talked about by many people, and new methods are constantly being searched to get sparkly white teeth. Zoom Whitening is one such technique. In this procedure the dentist covers the lips and gums, then he applies what they call the 'Zoom' hydrogen peroxide whitening gel. This is a bleaching procedure that whitens the teeth very quickly and lessens the effect of color discoloration. A special light is also used in this technique that helps to break up stains and any discoloration on the teeth.

HealOzone

HealOzone is a new innovation that produces ozone from oxygen and then uses this to kill bacteria that can cause tooth decay. This is a great way to prevent tooth decay as well because studies have shown that the ozone works by killing 99% of oral bacteria. This is a substantial percentage indeed! This is a great alternative to getting fillings because not only is it a pain-free option, but one that doesn't involve the tooth to be drilled into or injections to be administered to render the tooth numb.

It can also be used as a procedure before filling a cavity. Once the bacteria in the tooth are killed by ozone, a filling can be put in to fill in the damaged tooth.

Invisalign

If you are not interested in wearing metal braces or are allergic to metal, then Invisalign is the perfect solution for you to get an aligned smile. These are like plastic retainers that help shift the position of your teeth to give you straight teeth. The big benefit here is that Invisalign is completely transparent so you can get your teeth aligned without the need to wear ugly metal in your mouth, and they are not as painful as the metal braces. On the downside, Invisalign is more expensive than your average braces.

Thinner Veneers

Veneers are customized structures to cover the front part of the teeth to improve their appearance. Veneers are used to treat discolored teeth, chipped teeth, misaligned,  uneven teeth, teeth with gaps, and just simply worn out teeth. This is probably the best tool out there to improve the appearance of your teeth and get that beautiful smile. Veneers may be expensive, but they are very popular among celebrities like Hilary Duff, Cardi B, and even Zac Efron.
