Low-cost iPhone may be rounder and thicker than iPhone 5 (Video)

Since the iPhone 5S is expected to retain the same design of the iPhone 5, the low-cost iPhone will be the smartphone that brings a new design to the table in September. Apple is expected to offer the budget iPhone in 5 color choices and a $99 price tag. A new case that claims to be for the low-cost iPhone has emerged along with a video showing the size difference between the low-cost iPhone and the iPhone 5.

Apple has primarily focused on the high-end of the smartphone world with each release of the iPhone. The company has introduced a new model and kept the previous year's model as a mid-range device, and the one before for the low-end by slashing their prices. The company is now widely expected to announce a new member to the iPhone family, just like it has done with the iPod and iPad.

Just like iPods, Apple is expected to differentiate the less expensive iPhone from the higher-end iPhone 5S by also offering the device in multiple colors. The smartphone is expected to be offered in 5 color choices, black, white, pink, orange, and blue. The device is expected to be made out of plastic instead of the iPhone 5's anodized aluminum body to keep the price of the smartphone down.

Recent leaks regarding the low-cost iPhone's design have described it as having a plastic shell and a 4-inch display, although it's not clear if Apple will use a Retina Display in the device. The smartphone is also said to be thicker and more round in appearance compared to the iPhone 5.

Macotakara has posted images and a video of what it claims is a third-party case made for the low-cost iPhone. The site claims that the low-cost iPhone will be very similar in size to the iPhone 5, but about 2mm thicker. The video shows an iPhone 5 being put into the alleged low-cost iPhone case. The iPhone 5 fits inside the case with a little room to spare, but the sides of the case are round compared to the iPhone 5's more square-like shape.

Third party case makers have revealed the designs of previous iPhones and iPads, but it's always best to take these kinds of Apple rumors with a grain of salt. Check out the video below.
