AT&T's Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 LTE getting Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update

Owners of Samsung's LTE-enabled Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 on AT&T will welcome the news that the tablet is now getting the much-awaited software update to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.

The update is an over-the-air (OTA) one and was pushed out on June 27. Users also have the option of updating their device via Samsung's Kies software.

Per an Android Geeks report, "AT&T and Samsung rolled out earlier today the latest Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware update for their Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 LTE model."

Launched in Nov. 12, the 10.1-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 came pre-loaded with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS). The update to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean was long overdue, especially with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean being available.

Thanks to the update, the LTE-enabled Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 will now benefit from several new features and enhancements which Jelly Bean brings. The enhancements include customizable widgets, enhanced text input and spell-checking, improved web browsing, better email management, Google Now and more.

To update your tablet to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean via Samsung Kies, simply connect the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 LTE (SGH-I497) to a PC and follow the instructions. To get the software as an OTA update, go to Settings > About Device > Software update > Update Firmware > Install Update.
