CNN’s News and Entertainment Streaming Service, CNN+, to Launch This Spring: How Much Will It Be?

CNN will soon be launching its streaming service this spring.

A recent Reuters report mentioned that the popular cable news network is launching CNN+, a new streaming addition that will feature live daily news programming, original series, true crime shows, and food and travel.

CNN+ Offerings and Details

According to CNN+'s website, the streaming service will be a "completely distinct experience" as it offers new live shows, new original series, and new features like interactive interviews - a claim that seems to hold due to the streaming service's features, as previously mentioned.

"It's a whole new way to get your news and interact with content anytime you want, as it happens and all in one place," the website said.

Subscribers can expect familiar faces like Anderson Cooper, Poppy Harlow, and Chris Wallace to give out live daily and weekly news as they happen.

Additionally, the streaming service will be available through a handful of subscription options as well as various devices from smartphones to smart TVs and entertainment platforms.

On the other hand, CNNgo, the network's online streaming platform, will be terminated for users on desktop, mobile, and several streaming platforms and devices as soon as CNN+ launches. Meanwhile, CNN TV content will be "fully integrated" within CNN's app.

This means that CNN+ subscribers would have their own app where they can enjoy the content they paid for while people who only want to enjoy the TV everywhere experience they have enjoyed in the past can still do so with the CNN app.

As such, the CNN App will include CNN's linear TV feeds of CNN, CNN International, HLN, and CCN en español channels, which will be available for pay TV subscribers.

CNNgo will remain on some select streaming platforms.

Pricing

According to the report of the Los Angeles Times, CNN+ will be released during the last week of March. At which point, it will be offered for $.299 a month initially. This price was reported to be locked in for life as long as the account is active.

Should that deal expire, however, CNN+ will be available for $5.99 a month, the same price as the Fox News streaming service Fox Station, LA Times noted.

Reuters' report says a different story. According to their report, CNN+ will be offered at $2.99 within the first four weeks of its launch. Once that deal ends, the streaming service will be offered at $5.99 per month.

Resignations of Zucker, Gollust

The service is ready for launch after a hectic period of unrest within the network after Jeff Zucker, CNN's high-profile leader, was forced to resign. Zucker's sudden resignation was due to his failure to disclose a romantic relationship between him and Allison Gollust to CNN's parent company WarnerMedia.

Gollust, who was CNN's chief marketing officer, also left the network.

Reuters noted in its report that both Zucker and Gollust were deeply involved in the development of CNN+.
