Verizon Motorola DROID ULTRA, MAXX, and MINI images, new details and release date leak

Motorola still has plans for other smartphones besides its much-hyped Moto X and a new leak now details its upcoming DROID ULTRA, DROID MAXX, and DROID Mini smartphones.

Motorola and Verizon have had a special bond ever since the original Motorola DROID launched as an exclusive to Verizon. The company followed up with more exclusives, including DROID successors, and the company's iconic DROID RAZR series. Verizon is expected to get the Moto X, along with AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile, but it will also get a new family of DROID smartphones that will have even more impressive specs than the Moto X.

Evleaks has once again revealed images of unannounced smartphones. This time it has leaked pictures of the Droid MINI, Droid ULTRA, and the DROID MAXX.  The smartphones all appear to look very similar in design to the RAZR family. The specs for the DROID ULTRA were recently leaked.  The smartphone is expected to feature a 5-inch full HD 1080p display, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor under the hood, 16GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM, and a "high-end" 10-megapixel camera that will include an extra sensor for improved white balance and exposure.

The DROID MAXX will reportedly include the same 5-inch display, quad-core processor, and 10-megapixel camera. Its specs would be very similar to the DROID ULTRA's but the MAXX moniker indicates that Motorola will be packing a large battery inside the smartphone, just like it has done with the RAZR MAXX compared to the RAZR. A new report from Android Central points to Motorola's ad for the MAXX, which touts that the smartphone includes "48 hours of worry-free battery life" and hints that all three smartphones could be launched on August 8.

There have been no reported specs for what the DROID Mini might include, but as its name implies and the images clearly show, it will have a smaller display and form factor compared to the ULTRA or MAXX.

It remains to be seen whether the new Verizon DROID family will launch or be announced on August 8, but it's great to see Motorola isn't hedging all its bets on the Moto X.
