STAR'S TECH ECO-ST de-icer is an innovative way to improve safety using technology that includes starfish extract. Their technology allows for the same convenience and ease of use as traditional salt deicers, but with less of the problematic drawbacks.

ECO-ST is safer for pets

Many pet owners worry about using de-icers on their walkways because they know these can cause damage to their pets' paws. This is because salt and chloride-based de-icers can cause chemical burns to pets. ECO-ST adds a biowaste ingredient that minimizes the damage to pets as much as possible, so any worries about inhibited mobility or concern for your pet's safety can be put to rest.

STAR'S TECH ECO-ST uses de-icing beads rather than traditional flakes, this means that you can feel confident using ECO-ST on your walkways, steps, sidewalks, decks, and patios without worrying about the safety of your furry friends!

ECO-ST de-icer is safer for plants

ECO-ST deicer uses technology that is also safer for plants. Many worry about de-icers because they add harmful chloride ions into the soil. This can harm plants and cause them to wilt. ECO-ST uses biowaste along with other ingredients, which reduces the harm to your landscaping. What's more, their technology adsorbs chloride ions from the soil due to the starfish extract it contains, which means that your plants are at much less risk compare to traditional de-icers.

Smart use of biowaste technology

In all across the oceans, there are around 1,800 kinds of starfish. They mostly dwell on rocks and mud preying on fishes and shellfish such as urchins, mussels or their dead bodies. As the top predator of urchins that feed on seaweeds, starfish keep oxygen levels in the ocean and prevent pollution from dead bodies. But at some point, they began to be recognized as pests. The rapid population increase of the indiscriminate predator has reduced catch. Interestingly, it was the decrease of starfish's natural predators that brought the increase of their number. One of the predators is manta rays, species whose gill started to be used to make medicine and became targets of overfishing. Now, they are classified as a critically endangered animal and dying out. Another predator, triton sells are also on the brink of extinction because of overfishing and marine pollution. Inside oceans, where no predators of starfish are found, the population growth of the scavenger is almost uncontrollable.

However, by using smart and safe methods, ECO-ST saves the environment using this renewable biowaste. There are many reasons why starfish are considered renewable bio-waste. Some of these include their abundance, so they can be harvested without harming the ocean or its inhabitants.

STAR'S TECH de-icer uses the starfish's porous structure to help their de-icing beads adsorb dangerous chloride ions found on the ground. This helps the soil against serious environmental damage caused by a build-up of this chemical.

Corrosion Inhibition

Existing eco-friendly de-icers cause algae bloom in Water Eco-system due to the high usage of corrosion inhibitors. Corrosion inhibitors also be inactivated due to sedimentation or a build-up of micelle and result in an exposure of the surface of the steel. The porous structure of ECO-ST stores corrosion inhibitors to prevent sedimentation and making micelle. After that, structure releases them to replenish an exposed surface and protect steel surface perfectly. This is the storage-release mechanism.  As a result, ECO-ST is 30 times more efficient in corrosion inhibits rate with only using one-third of corrosion inhibitors compared to other eco-friendly products. In other words, ECO-ST is less corrosive than water.

The ECO-ST deicer shows how convenience doesn't have to be sacrificed for practicality and safety. Their creative technology allows for high-quality de-icing that is more beneficial to yourself, your pets, and the planet.
