Nokia recently launched the Lumia 1020, which has grabbed the attention of many smartphone enthusiasts with its 41-megapixel camera. However, is the Lumia 1020 worth an upgrade from Lumia 920?
The much-hyped AT&T-exclusive Lumia 1020 is already up for pre-order on the carrier from July 16. The handset definitely includes top-end features, but when compared to the Lumia 920, it's just a step up.
The Lumia 1020 measures 5.13 x 2.81 x 0.41 inches and the Lumia 920 measures 5.13 x 2.79 x 0.42 inches. As such, there are very minimal changes when it comes to the size of both the handset. However, at 5.57 ounces the Lumia 1020 is lighter than the Lumia 920, which weighs 6.53 ounces.
Both the handsets sport a 4.5-inch display with the same resolution and nearly the same ppi. However, the Lumia 1020 has an AMOLED display in comparison to the IPS LCD of the Lumia 920.
The Lumia 1020 and the Lumia 920 include the same processor clocked at 1.5GHz. But the Lumia 1020 has 2GB of RAM when compared to 1GB of RAM found on Lumia 920.
The key difference between the two Lumia handsets is the camera. The Lumia 920 is equipped with an 8.7-megapixel PureView rear-facing camera, while the Lumia 1020 has a whopping 41-megapixel PureView rear-facing camera. Moreover, the Lumia 1020 also includes more camera features when compared to the Lumia 920.
The Lumia 1020 also includes a powerful Xenon flash which enables users to take high-quality pictures even in low light background. On the other hand, the Lumia 920 has a DUAL LED flash. To enhance your picture taking experience, Nokia has also launched a Camera Grip especially for the Lumia 1020, which comes at an extra cost of $79.
Both the Nokia handsets run on Windows Phone 8 and are packed with a 2,000 mAh battery. However, the talk time of Lumia 1020 shows a big improvement over talk time offered by the Lumia 920.
Apart from the camera, the Lumia 1020 is a slight upgrade from the Lumia 920, and, as such, the handset may not appeal to many customers who are already using the Lumia 920.
