Nokia Lumia 1020 is so popular that AT&T has sold out of its pre-orders

It looks like Nokia already has a hit on its hands with the Lumia 1020. AT&T got the exclusive on the 41-megapixel smartphone and has already sold out of its pre-order supply in two days.

Nokia shook up the smartphone world when it announced that its Lumia 1020 would ship with a whopping 41-megapixel camera. It was just another way that Nokia is making its Windows Phone smartphone stand out from the competition. While there are a few other smartphones with high-end cameras packed inside of them, none come close to what Nokia is packing inside of the Lumia 1020.

When Nokia announced that AT&T would be the exclusive carrier of the 1020 in the U.S., the carrier announced that it would price the handset at $299.99 with a new 2-year contract. Many people thought the $299 price tag was too expensive without even considering that it's not just another smartphone with a decent camera. AT&T began taking pre-orders for the Lumia 1020 on July 16 and it looks like more than enough people were happy to pay $299 for a Windows Phone 8 smartphone combined with a 41-megapixel camera. The carrier has confirmed that it has completely sold out of its allocation of pre-orders for the 1020.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 features a 4.5-inch ClearBlack AMOLED PureMotion HD+ display with a 1280 x 768 resolution and a pixel density of 334 pixels per inch (ppi) and it includes sunlight readability enhancements and wide viewing angles. The handset runs Windows Phone 8 with the Nokia Lumia Amber update pre-installed, it is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, includes 32GB of internal storage with 2GB of RAM, a 41-megapixel Pureview rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics, optical image stabilization (OIS), Xenon flash and full HD 1080p video recording. A 1.2-megapixel front facing camera, a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and a non-removable 2,000mAh battery.

If you're still looking to pre-order the Lumia 1020 Best Buy and the Microsoft Store are still taking pre-orders for the smartphone. Microsoft is also including a free Nokia Camera Grip accessory that normally costs $79.00 with its pre-orders.
